Probably a good chance if one of these companies wanted to they could justify suing CFX, they’ve made money and FiveM is well known for all the IP violations going on the platform for years. The more strict implementation of measures recently is their way of damage control, to prevent this.
Likely the most susceptible to a lawsuit is the leadership of CFX, even if they sell off the company.
As for Tebex, they probably could get in trouble as well, it doesn’t make sense they’ve been profiting off of IP violation/stolen assets and handing out licenses for them. People here and elsewhere saying “Haha it’s your fault for buying IP-violating goods” are just morons who have no idea how the real world works.
I think it needs to go further. Get rid of this stupid “one sync” thing, change the max players to 32. The roleplay servers are ruing five m, bring in like game mode lobbies and shit, you can have like races and stuff that go into separate instances with the beautiful gta v base cars. Have like a level system for all players accross all servers and like killing and driving and completing missions gives you more levels. Honestly there is no other game like this! Great move happy to finally see a grand theft auto online!
So you telling me just anybody can report anybody’s server and rockstar will shut it down what a shame FiveM has really gone to shit I want to know exactly how does FiveM/rockstar know if the reporter is lying or is actually telling the truth because some people do have hate for some people and can easily get reported just for that so I’m just wondering how does rockstar/fivem make sure that the server owners really violating T.O.S?
If people are expected to comply with all of this surely there should be more support in terms of RedM development too? I understand the whole TOS update and requirements but everything is just focused on FiveM!!!
Im pleased by the update for the infrastructure for downloading the client that dosent take 30 years to complete, but please for the love of god work out the bugs and issues in RedM!!!
I for one would love to see RedM thrive and be given the love that fivem has had, and credit to those who are building communities, or have one like myself, and developers get the support too they deserve.
It was in the cfx discord people laughing about how to shut down servers. Some players have been reporting things such as server owners NOT allowing players to bring in things that go against TOS and then bragging and laughing about it.
I do have a question do you mean fivem as in FIVEM GTAV or fivem as in Cfx fivem/redm ?
its alwasy confusing as many people adress cfx as FiveM i do see in the links saying fivem/redm
I mean, I see a lot of people complaining about the cars…which I do somewhat get but here is my knowledge of law vs the ToS going down.
As long as real world brands aren’t being used for monetization, I don’t see how them being used in your server can break some copyright infringement on you personally. You’re not making money off those, it’s merely utilizing something to bring more realism to your server.
This also clothing etc will be heavily enforced too, some of you are saying “You come for cars, means your server is boring blah blah” but here’s the thing, 85% of hairs you use in your server are from the sims or sim modders…which also break the ToS as per their wording. So how many females do you believe are going to stay in your server with those generic GTA hairs and such because there are only a couple of devs who custom make their hairs from blender and it’s not enough to get rid of the heinous hair that Rockstar thought looked good lol.
Again with a lot of the custom clothing, 80% of it is imported from the sims4…so you’ll have to get rid of all that too, which brings you back to the generic gta5 clothing. The wording to this ToS has more implications than you think…but by law, it’s not breaking copyright infringement as long as you aren’t both selling it or promoting it as a point to come to your server, which is why I’m confused as to why it’s being portraited that way…
Not what I said nor what the announcement is leading us to believe. It just states that you can not pull assets from other R* games or any other recreation of other games/brands. Addon vehicles of already in-game GTA 5 vehicles seems to be in the clear as it is within the same game.
I’m not pulling anything from the game, i asked before, “Can we use lore-friendly addon vehicles that uses the GTA Car Brands?” and someone said you can’t use R*'s IP Either
If you were bothered to read properly, those listed positions include working on RedM too. Now that CFX got potentially some funding and, more importantly, open inside door on technical side of things from within R*, this means things will get only better, on technical level.
Gone are days when certain CFX individuals publicly said “F it, I’m closing it down for reasons”. Considering everything, it seemed to worked out well for the in the end. And for us too. Minus people that are not being able to get over their legal wrongdoings.
If you think developing your RedM server takes time and effort, you clearly never did anymore more complex than that. You’re more than welcome to start your own “RedM” platform. And undergo everything that comes with that same way CFX did in past.
No why would they do that? People knew prior to this announcement when the TOS changes came out last month to start taking action against Branded assets in their server… Nothing to do with tebex if people don’t read TOS and keep upto date.
Has nothing to do with stores and tbh you shouldn’t be selling 1 of 1 cars on the platform anyways from what I have heard…
This rule is for all servers using Branded IRL assets public, whitelisted they all have to follow the new TOS and rules outlined when using the platform.
