Is it performance-wise possible to replace the entire GTA V map?

Hello,
I already tried clearing the GTA V map using this resource: Empty Map.

Now I am wondering:

  • Is it technically and performance-wise possible to replace the entire GTA V map with a custom one?

Hey,

yes, it’s technically possible to replace the entire GTA V map with a custom one, but it’s not simple at all. The “Empty Map” resource just removes Los Santos, while you would need to build everything from scratch models, collisions, LODs and split it properly into sectors so the game can stream it.

Performance-wise, it can work, but only if the map is well optimized. If you just drop in one huge model, it will lag and crash badly. The key is to split it into chunks and make proper LODs.

Yes it’s possible I’ve done it many times with lc maps, vice maps, etc like he said above you will need to rebuild or recall any gta5 props if you want to use any of them. It’s a lot of work but it pays off
