Today, we’re happy to announce the launch of Upvotes Pro, an enterprise option for server owners who want more flexibility in how they promote their larger servers.
To celebrate the launch of Upvotes Pro, use the code UPVOTES25 at checkout until July 2 to receive 25% off your purchase of Upvotes or Upvotes Pro. This code can be used multiple times until the sale ends on July 2 at 4 p.m. CEST.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to develop and expand our platform. We can’t wait to show you more of what we have planned for this year. Stay tuned!
lmfao this has to be some kind of joke? upvotes have plagued the platform for years and was just an initial incentive for fivem to make some money in the past which would’ve been excusable. now cfx is owned by a multi-billion dollar company and still relies on things like upvotes to help artifically boost servers rather than actually promote content/servers with high quality content. instead of doing what other UGC platforms are doing like building an algorithm to help promote and engage with servers like fortnite and roblox, you double down on this system
So this is nothing more than just an option for server owners to get more upvotes at a time under a different name, but it’s the exact same thing in all other aspects? I fail to see the point here
So if I get it right, you’re “introducing” Upvotes, but with a bigger amount to spend and added “pro” to make it a new feature? Basically something that was already possible a year ago but got removed and now it’s back?
The initial incentive for FiveM to make money in the past was locking the feature to stream MP clothing behind a patreon subscription. Upvotes came much later when the platform was already generating a decent revenue. Cfx is owned by a multi-billion dollar company but that’s their net worth, it’s not like they’re sitting on billions in cash and the platform still needs to fund itself. This platform was not purchased as a charity contribution and unique servers are already pinned free of charge.
People are just under the idea that maybe one day the platform would go back to what it was before but we all know that will never happen. Its arguable that upvotes incentivize negative qualities of servers like over-monetization and basically what Minecraft went through before EULA 2.0. But its also clear that this is a business now and not some small passion project.
FiveM hasn’t been like that for years and it’s time people start accepting that this isn’t just some hobby project anymore. Even prior to the acquisition it was operating as a business with many revenue streams such as Patreon, Zap, Boosts and Tebex. I really don’t see this implementation as a problem, nobody is forced to purchase them and if you’re worried about your server growing plenty of people were able to build their servers up just fine without being near the top of the list. This was actually possible already on Zap before and it caused no problems whatsoever. It’s not like the team put their efforts into something the community didn’t want…a whole other team worked on these changes that wouldn’t be working on the regular development of the project.
Absolutely diabolical and frankly embrassing (as a software engineer) to put out something like this instead of real features that improve the ecosystem like the support for the Enhanced edition which you announced 4 months ago now …
just because this has been a thing before doesn’t mean its the correct thing to do
id love to see some actual proof from this because it seems entirely the opposite
people who have money want this, obviously. it would be a lot more beneficial for everyone across the board if there were algorithm systems similar to roblox and fortnite that help boost certain games/maps.
they already make tonnes of money from the tebex deal they have as they get a percentage of every deal done across tebex that is fivem related, they could just be decent and not have upvotes in the first place.
the fact anyone actually advocates for this is pretty weird
exactly man, classic rockstar turned fivem into another money mule “wanna be higher on the server list? here if you are willing to spend THOUSANDS you will be at the very top!”
On some Discord servers, paid map assets and client files are getting decrypted — meanwhile, over on the forums, every dumb update like “Upvotes Pro” gets celebrated like it’s some huge breakthrough.
