Error When Connecting Multiple Devices to Local FiveM Host for Scripting Development

Problem Description:

I am working on a scripting development project using FiveM on my local host. I have connected both my PC and laptop to the same local FiveM server to test and develop scripts. However, when I attempt to connect, I encounter the following error message:

“Your account is already being used to play on FiveM or RedM. Please end your current session first, and try to connect again.”

This error prevents me from connecting the second device (either my PC or laptop) and disrupts my development flow.

I am unsure why this error occurs even though the devices are supposed to be able to connect to the same server. Has anyone encountered this issue before or have a solution for it?

Would appreciate any advice on how to resolve this error and ensure both devices can connect simultaneously for testing.

Hello me too i have the same error and i dont know to fix

You can only use one license once, see the guide below on how to run two instances (you MUST have two separate GTAV licenses for this, it’s unavoidable!)

yes i know but i only using one license

Like I said, “you MUST have two separate GTAV licenses for this, it’s unavoidable!” - I cannot be any more clear than this. If you want to test with two clients at the same time, you need two licenses.

My girlfriend and I, have been sharing the same FiveM account for the past 3 months on a server. No issues until today. When we try to load in together, one of us gets kicked. Both of us, have different copies of Grand Theft Auto V on steam, as it would be obvious considering it has worked fine up until today. Just trying to figure out a loop hole around whatever was changed.

I don’t believe this is correct.

You can no longer share the same license between multiple PCs at the same time.

I did this for 5 years without any issues (except the identifiers being overwritten on all PCs by whichever PC opened FiveM last), and it was convenient for developing and testing.

I also shared the same GTA copy with my family, as it makes 0 sense that we were forced to buy 1 copy for each one of us, individually. Games in the past were purchased only once and shared with the whole family and friends.

Now in 2025 I have to buy the game twice just for myself to test it using two computers.

It’s OK, I am gonna buy a CD key from the cheapest possible source I can find, there’s no way I am paying it full price.

It worked for the past 5 years for me without issues, today I opened FiveM on my 2 computers and boom, the bad news.

I think it has something to do with the new patch that added support for Microsoft and Xbox Game Pass license keys.
It’s probably broken now. Anyway, the best way to handle this would be to use two separate license keys, because you’ll run into issues when you need to retrieve certain info from the player depending on your framework i guess.

Yeah I solved it by buying a $1 social club account/license

Can you give more details on this please? I’m using 2 separate Rockstar profiles. I’m not sure what you mean by social club account/licence.

Rockstar can f off if they think I’m buying another copy of GTAV after 10+ years and a year before GTA6. Pricks.
