What car manufacturers are opposed to is the illegal distribution of their brands and designs without proper licensing. They want to be paid for their designs, and they want control over how their brands are used.

Look, I’m not saint myself in this regard. I, too, had a lot of illegal content on my RP server. But I understood from the beginning it’s forbidden and was always ready for possible consequences. And I’m not crying about it. Life is not binary. CFX, Tebex or even Rockstar and Take2 also only care when the situation requires it. Call this situation whatever you like, but most of all, it’s today’s reality.
Those that care have pretty much 2 choices as I see it. Either complain about it all or get on board and celebrate the biggest milestone in CFX’s history. I chose the latter.
But In using GTAVs map is that not the exact same thing? Also while yes it is redistribution it is making modifications to something that is already present, said modifications differ from others on the market in order to appeal to a base/community that cant get said thing.
While I don’t rip games I support devs and pay for any game I own or MLO/script and so on, I just personally feel hindering creators will just push people away, people go to FiveM to get what they can’t anywhere else, it’s why I started on FiveM a year ago and It’s something I adore to which I log in at least four times a week and spend countless hours on. Liberty City is a port over from another GTA game that is not done from R* themselves as part of a DLC is a someone who has ripped it and redistributed it for $$ which is illegal and take2 has every right to take legal action on him…
Los Santos came default with GTA V on release so that is the map you need to be using all the time in your server no questions.

That means sorta what they are selling as de-badged vehicles won’t fly as the model and design is still a IP infringement to say for example Dodge Charger… removing the text from saying Dodge from the rear or any where else on the vehicle still doesn’t remove the fact that it still looks like a Dodge Charge… the design of the model is still replicating a Dodge Charger.
Dodge are still in there every right to hit you with a DMCA or copyright notice over their trademark
I have bought stuff from Redneck in the past but took that out when the new TOS came out on the 12th September and took my server offline for 12hrs to allow me time to get replacement vehicles in plus do skins etc… it does suck but I am not all for branded stuff as that doesn’t make your server.
It comes down to the Quality of RP in the server as well as the interactions, content you have to provide RP, making friends and just all having a good time without it being too serious as at the end of the day most people are on FiveM to escape real world issues and want to make/ meet new people and make stories together.

I am all for this removing branded vehicles off the platform it doesn’t make your server any good or provide that your server becomes popular, it comes down like I said before your Quality of RP in your server, your staff, content your providing for your players to use to build around there characters and stories…
Branding stuff I have kept myself away from in my server/community… Yes people have suggested vehicles and branded clothing but has always been turned down to prevent copyright issues and DMCA takedowns on myself and my community.
And actually not been in the community for a short time 
been on FiveM since 2016 when it was released and been part of my fair share of communities and see the ups and downs of FiveM and servers… so maybe do a little more digging before thinking that…

You can not import stuff that violates copyright laws, into GTA5 at all. This isn’t just for FiveM, or just for your private server. It’s platform wide. Even in singleplayer you shouldn’t be doing it as this policy is also the same for SP modding. It doesn’t matter if it’s you and your 3 friends, and it’s a locked server. You are violating the terms of service to play GTA5 by doing it. It’s not “personal use” or “fair use” because it isn’t UGC on your own platform. It’s ripped content on someone else’s platform. If you want to argue fair use, you’re going to need to go make your own game with your own TOS and then use ripped models with your 3 buddies.
Honestly not sure why we’re even having these discussions, the total deletion of Discord for the 2nd (third?) time is still much more of an issue than the non-issue of people not understanding how copyright works.
Strongly agree. Would love a statement about why it happened and if it was intentional or not. Though having been around the community since 2019 I know we are unlikely to get any concrete answer and just a vague answer like we got at the top of this post. Years worth of research, support answers and snippets all gone. I’m just glad the RedM section is safe still.

I would have never spent a single dime on a branded vehicle as I know that it is against the law. Heck, I even reported a few.
I hate it when people do low effort (and forbidden) stuff and sell it for a lot of money.
You as a consumer should think more of what you are buying and throwing your money out.
Imagine buying drugs from a dealer, then calling the cops and telling them you got scammed by a drug dealer and you got low quality stuff.

The few servers that actually make money off of it and that are huge in player counts etc.
