Chess Game in 3D | Multiplayer | AI Opponents

Chess :chess_pawn:

Fully authoritative 3D chess where players walk up to a real board, sit down and move the pieces live in the world. Play another player or an AI bot, wager money, all managed from a single config.

Requires the free bzzz_chess asset pack (3D table, board, chairs and pieces).

Key Features :

  1. Automatic Framework Detection

Auto-detects ESX, QBCore or Standalone at runtime, with per-framework money and notification handling, no manual booleans to flip.

  1. Pure 3D Board Interaction

Walk up to a table, sit down and move the pieces directly in the world. Overhead camera, raycast pick-and-place and drag-and-drop, no on-screen chessboard.

  1. Player vs Player and AI Bot

Challenge another player or a built-in chess bot with three difficulty levels and adjustable thinking time, so you can play even when nobody is around.

  1. Server-Authoritative Engine

A pure Lua rules engine validated against the standard perft positions. Castling, en passant, promotion, check, checkmate and stalemate are all handled and verified server-side.

  1. Wager System

Players bet cash or bank money and the winner takes the pot, with equal-stake matching for PvP, a configurable house cut and refundable draws.

  1. Passive Spectating

Tables live in the open world, so anyone nearby watches the game render live, with no UI and no interaction required.

  1. Native End Screen & Captured Tray

A native GTA scaleform result card shows victory, defeat or draw for each player, and captured pieces stack neatly beside the board.

Thank you ! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

First of all, thanks for the script; the idea behind it is really cool and well-executed.

I just have two small points:

When adjusting the locale, the changes aren’t currently applied everywhere, as you also have to update them in the index file. This makes the Shared.Locale feel a bit redundant to me, since you have to maintain it in two places.
It would be great to have support for different target systems (e.g., ox_target). While you can add this yourself, the option to continue interacting using “E” still remains.

As I said, overall it’s a really cool script and a very good implementation :+1:

Thanks for the feedback ! I’ll be happy to add these improvements as soon as possible. I’ll make an announcement on my Discord once the update is pushed :+1:

Could you release this open source? You just used AI to make it, and someone will eventually release it OS. Will save us all some time.

It’s already free, so I’m not sure what time you’re saving. Free ≠ open source is a normal, deliberate choice here. Funny that the request comes from you specifically, though

Go for it :chess_pawn:

its all ai, and you used someone else prop with it too, it took 0 effort, so to make it closed source ruins it a little bit considering you put no work into yourself and just typed prompts.

You can do whatever you want, I’m just saying save us all the effort and release it open source so someone else doesn’t have to release it open source in a week or two.

All your scripts are AI-made, easy to tell, especially with the number of generic scripts you’re pumping out, the UI, and AI slop UI recreations of resources like rpemotes:

The prop pack is credited and listed as a free requirement right in the post, I’m not claiming someone else’s work as mine. And “closed source” on a free release is normal here, free ≠ open source. “0 effort” is easy to say about something you didn’t build.

“all AI, easy to tell” is just wrong, most of my shop was hand-coded over years, the AI part is recent and limited. And rpemotes didn’t invent the emote menu, dp_emotes and others did it before, it’s a generic format nobody owns , and mine’s been out for a long time.

“hand coded” says enough to confirm it’s 100 percent AI.

Yeah, And go look at the license for dp emotes and who added it dumbass. You’re violating both the emote license (non commercial) that you are reselling and gpl 3 for the code you’re escrowing.

This is really great for a free resource

Bro, if you’re so tough and want everything to be open source for everyone, then go ahead download the props and build it yourself. Sometimes developers don’t want their code to be open source, and if you don’t like that, build it yourself using AI, just like you say they do…

I don’t need to build it myself. @codyraves is already almost done with their own open-source version.

I don’t care, I have plenty of stuff that’s escrowed, I’m saying that this is 100% AI generated, so OP may as well release it unescrowed if he’s releasing it for free.

Now this resource will be completely forgotten once the free version comes out.
