I’m having the same issue. It doesn’t get past validating the update.rpf file, but when I go to close
the application it shows a completely different issue. I have the game downloaded to a separate drive (labeled D), but I had GTAV downloaded on my C drive a while back. For some reason, even though I selected the correct path for the “select the folder that contains RDR2.exe” step, it’s looking for the game in a completely different place.

Here is some of the details in the popup. It includes much more than this, but I figured this might help a bit.

Selecting “yes” does nothing besides closing the application down. I checked in task manager and saw nothing close to it running in the background, but I’m also not entirely sure what to look for.

What I did to fix it was rename the Update.RPF file INSIDE the Red Dead Redemption 2 install folder. Doing so will allow RedM to download the Update.RPF file it needs to run.
