Wiki Native Format Proposal

Not sure if anyone here is following the wiki too much, but I have and didn’t know if anyone cared about the formatting of the natives within the wiki.

I’ve come here to propose a new idea for the wiki native format. As shown here pretty much to change the current categorization from alphabetical to based on what the native function does, like the NativeDB website. In my opinion this would help developers in finding what they need, currently the NativeDB website is “incomplete” as I think it was vandalized losing data.

Like I said not sure if anyone cares but, if you do please post your opinion on this idea, would like to help out devs and myself with this re-arranging.

The wiki isn’t meant to contain every single native - the current list is also outdated (doesn’t match the latest resource manifest) as it was added by the community, rather than endorsed by the development team - if it were the latter, most data would be automatically generated, but a wiki isn’t the right way and place to do this as a future goal is to sync this with Lua/C# documentation comments that development tools will show.

For a mirror of NativeDB at the time of the latest resource manifest, see Native Reference - Cfx.re Docs.

Also,

that’s incorrect, NativeDB (and the bullshit namespaces C++ libraries use) just categorize by whatever function registers the native in the game EXE; if such a categorization would be made at least it should be made more friendly and not Scaleform mixed with minimap natives and such.

It would be nice if these intentions where public so people dont go on wasting their time. And if they are they kinda are obscured.

There’s no intentions, just ‘things not to’ and ‘if-this-were-worked-on’. Lots of these thoughts remain internal and documenting them would make no sense as they’re not things we’re intending to work on any time soon, and users might expect ETAs and whatnot.
