Why the hell is the forum report button disabled by defaut? + Meta section needed for site

I needed to report a user on the forums for back seat moderating but the report button was disabled by default possibly because I did not post enough, it might be a good idea to have it accessible for all users by default.

Can you also add a meta section for the site so that users looking for support or to discuss the site won’t post in other threads?

Hello, this is a friendly reminder because this is your first time creating a topic (or it has been a while since your last topic) in this category.

Please note that most of the support is provided by the Cfx.re community on a voluntary basis. We ask you to be patient; there is no guarantee we have a solution to your problem(s). To avoid unnecessary/duplicate topics, please browse the forums before creating a topic.

To improve your chances of your issue(s) being solved, please provide as much information as possible about the issue(s) you are having. Also —whenever possible— please use the template given to you when creating a topic.

Thanks for keeping these forums tidy!

We don’t have any means to report users, one can only report posts, which isn’t disabled either, even for TL1 users.

It might be it’s off for TL0 users, but the transition from TL0 to TL1 is to visit the site on two different days, which you have done and you have also found the reporting button since then, as it appears.

We’ll look into this, however.

Similarly, we don’t disallow ‘back seat moderating’ whatever that might be, since we do not have any hierarchical setup, and eschew the concept of solving any argument by deferring to an authority. In this case, even, there didn’t seem to be any argument at all.

As such, you didn’t ‘need’ to report said user either, for it would be the wrong solution in this case, and it would only waste time and lead to more potential escalation.

The stance the user you tried to report, assuming you are referring to Grand Theft Auto Online vanilla server emulation - #4 by Smallo, was posting is an accurate stance that has been stated on multiple occasions, and in no way was the user acting ‘like a moderator’, since there was nothing regarding moderation decisions or actions in said post.

The task of a moderator is to ensure a discussion remains civil and constructive, not to have the exclusive right on answering questions. :stuck_out_tongue:

While we get that you might have preferred an official response to this question, we do not have the capacity to respond to every question on the forums directly, especially if it was answered accurately by a community member already.

The ‘FiveM Discussion’ section serves this purpose fine given the low frequency of this type of topics. An additional section would only clutter more, and I don’t think anyone minds if this kind of topic gets posted elsewhere either.

I just moved the topic there since ‘Client Support’ is a less appropriate place, however.

Backseat moderating is when a user acts like a mod/admin when they actually aren’t, and these people are notorious for harassing users who did nothing wrong.
