What is OneSync?

When I was looking for how to increase slots I came across OneSync, but somehow couldn’t figure them all out.

So I wanted to ask, what exactly is OneSync and how does it work?

In simple terms, OneSync is CitizenFX (the guys behind FiveM and RedM) “custom” sync system that is built on top of GTA:O’s system. As you know, GTA:O is peer-to-peer connection, OneSync removes that, thus allowing more clients to be inside a single game session. You get up to 48 slots for free, with up 1024 being allowed via pledging to CFX through Patreon.

I’ll preemptively answer another question - there are two OneSync versions. One is the original one that is nowadays known as “OneSync Legacy” which allows up to 128 players even with Patreon perks. The “default” one, also referred to as “OneSync Infinity”, allows up to 1024. The main difference between them is that on Legacy, all clients exist for a given client at all times, while Infinity does not sync clients more than 300 units (GTA distance measure) away from a given client. This, of course, requires that player-to-player interaction and data has to be transferred through the server as, for all intents and purposes, not all other clients exist at all times for any given client on Infinity. Oh, and before you ask, Infinity is the recommended mode, so if you’re making a new server develop it for running on Infinity.

Also, please mind the category you post in. I moved it for you.
