Warning Before Server Ban for TOS Violations

Hi everyone,

I would like to propose an improvement regarding server bans for Terms of Service violations. Before a server (or its owner) is banned, there should first be a warning.

As a server owner, I believe I can speak for other banned owners when I say that we strive to follow the rules. If an issue arises, it is never intentional, and we would appreciate receiving a report detailing the problem so that we can fix or remove it.

We always aim to comply with the terms, but if something is not in line with the rules, we would greatly appreciate feedback before a ban is issued.

Thanks for considering this suggestion!

Servers are given a warning and a timeframe to fix the issues within the server prior to the server being blocked. If the violation is one of the major ones, then the server will be blocked without warning.

What are the “major ones” then? Our server was banned for “Branding,” yet we do not use any brand branding. A warning should have been sufficient, simply telling us what to remove. However, no one is communicating with us, and we don’t even know what we are violating.

Major ones only include trust & safety issues such as adult sexual content or hate groups. For branding you always receive a warning with a 14 days grace period to fix this. If you haven’t received it then make sure you are able to receive emails on the email linked to your forum account.

The warning looks like this

Do you know what the process following this is?

We got a 14 day notice which we complied with (with what little info was provided) and we removed all offending assets and even a bunch that are most likely compliant though we couldn’t be sure so we thought it was better to err on the side of caution. The email said to reply if we had any queries. I sent two follow up emails and never heard back. Now the 14 day period has come and gone and there’s been no communication from CFX about it at all.

I’m operating under the assumption that no news is good news but I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t a certain amount of anxiety that we will just wake up one day and the server will be blocked because there was something that we missed. Any insight you might have would be really appreciated

My banned account Profile - ATomas - Cfx.re Community

Thanks for the tip, but I haven’t received any such email, I’ve checked all my mailboxes and nothing. I’m writing here from a second account because my main account doesn’t even allow me to login to this forum. I have not received any response from the support official. How do I remove bad content if I don’t know what content it is?

I believe that our community is safe and we don’t have any hate groups and we don’t have any sexual content at all. We are also not aware of any security risks from our side.

I don’t see anyone who could tell us what is wrong with our server and what we should fix. In the meantime, we have bans without warning and players leave angry because we can’t tell them what’s wrong because we don’t know it ourselves.

What should I do?

It’s honestly a bit frustrating seeing how some servers are in clear violation of the PLA and still running—some of them even sitting comfortably at the top. I’m guessing your server was relatively small, which unfortunately makes it easier to get hit while others slip through.

It would definitely be nice to see more transparency about how these enforcement decisions are made. But at the end of the day, it’s their platform and their rules—they can enforce them however they choose.

Is it fair? Not really. But unfortunately, we don’t have much power in the situation.

I wish you a good luck perhaps try and contact them.
