VPS or Zap-Hosting?

(hopefully this is in the right place) Hello reader, I was wondering what is better, a VPS or Zap-Hosting, right now I have a zap server running 32 players and extra 2gb of ram to run all the custom cars people are recommending in our server I’m paying bout $17 a month. Recently I’ve had a user on my server come up to me and suggest I switch to a $50 VPS server With a couple reasons including better fps, cars spawning in faster, textures loading when there is a lot of cars, and more cores. What should I do, should I listen and try the VPS? Or should I stay with Zap?

If you know what your doing go with VPS, if you don’t really know that much stay with Zap because of the support they offer.

Thanks for the response, Im getting the grips on what to do and I will have one of my devs help me setup the server, is there any big improvements to the server or is it more expensive and it gives me the rights to say I run a VPS server

If you have the money and are truly dedicated then I would recommend the VPS personally but Zap-Hosting is great for new servers.

A couple things i have to go over before I make this response.

  1. I am not quite sure if the question in ‘question’ is still a concern to you, if be so then…

  2. I read through some of your previous topics and have discovered that you no longer find a VPS a plausible, but I assure, it will be worth the “extra work” that would be presented with having a vps

ok so I did a bit of research and discovered that most VPS are payed yearly, now what this means is that, well, if you aren’t really satisfied, it is a little hard to ‘pull out’ if you will, so I suggest you go do some research following up to my presented benifits.

First ill go over the cons of Zap-Hosting.

I have been using zap hosting to host my own server and here are some of the issues I have had…

  1. FTP (File Transfer Protocol, in the sense of placing files in the server) and server outages… there has been multiple occasions in which I have experienced issues with random FTP disconnects, sometimes i have not been able to connect to the FTP server for several hours, and I have ruled out the chance of it being an issue on my side by getting friends to test it too. Server outages occurred when I was on the server, and it just disconnects randomly, and have been unable to start the server for hours.

  2. Customer support. Now this could be a little bias as I assume I am in a different time zone to you, but this only applies to one issue I have with their Customer support, that being that they are un conveniently offline every time I require assistance, and when they are, the majority of them are German, and they are using some kind of google translate, and sometimes it is hard to understand them.

VPS systems are hard to setup, and if you were to get one, I would recommend a linux one as they are cheaper, there is a tutorial on how to set up a FiveM server build for Linux here on the forums. Most VPS hosts do provide a port forwarding management panel if you will, which would make it easy to set port forwarding up. As for FTP connection set up, there are plenty of tutorials online specifying what ports to forward and even some step by step tutorials explaining how to go about doing that. There is plenty of FTP server software for Linux that are easy to use.

What Linux OS would I recommend?
Ubuntu.
Other Linux OS can be a little overwhelming to use in terms of installing software and getting drivers right, Debian for example, requires a higher understanding of CLI (Command line interface) operation in the OS to install software and add-ons, Ubuntu is usually being updated with more build features by communities, which makes for easier setting up of programs, etc… Debian runs faster from what I have read, but it is more specialised in terms of server operations, with load balancing and web hosting. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong guys.

In conclusion.

I think you would greatly benefit from having VPS opposed to a zap hosting server for price and memory and specification expansion especially with 64 slots bound to roll around soon.

Feel free to msg me on discord (we already have an open conversation, but I am the4kgamer#8973) if you require assistance with settings this up.

Kind regards.

VPS servers are not hard to set up. It’s as simple as installing the server files and opening up the port on the vps firewall.
I would always suggest a vps over Zap Hosting as their quality has just gone downhill at a very fast rate. Support is non existent since they removed the live chat option and went to a ticket system

Hello, i can suggest to use VPS, with VPS you can create custom DDoS protection, you can host more server with different ports… <3
