I’ll probably regret weighing in here, however:
We were warned for TOS violation. I didn’t see the warning because it went to an email I don’t really check.
Then we were suspended for two weeks due to no changes.
We invested between labor, assets, scripting, and more over $80k in our 1.5 update. Once we heard about the TOS almost a year ago, we immediately went to work on another iteration of our server branded as a 2.0 build that reinforced gameplay mechanics, fixed econ issues, and most importantly, removed any and all TOS violations.
If your community leaves, it starts with leadership. If your community doesn’t respect the work you do, then you failed them as a leader.
We are seeing more traction and more growth after removing all of the TOS content than before. For reference, we spent 3+ years with TOS content in our server, versus 2-3 months w/o it.
It’s up to you as a leader to build you community as much as you build your server. You can’t have one without the other, based on my experience.
While it is frustrating to see there are other servers that are still running TOS violations, I know their time will eventually come, the same as ours did.
It’s easy to sit on the sidelines and cry about why nothing is being done, why people are being ignored, among other things.
Honestly, just be a part of the solution and not the problem. I’ve spent the last week reading everything I’ve come across in the forums regarding internal Cfx drama; and honestly? None of it concerns me.
Its unfortunate what has happened to some key contributors, I agree, however I can’t change their situation and no amount of crying from me will. All I can do is set my gaze forward and continue working.
