Steam authentication failure after adding esx to my localhost-server

I ran a tutorial from youtube on How to Setup an ExtendedMode (ESX) FiveM Server. After I did everything (so installing + database work) and started it with no errors, I couldn’t connect to the server. The Error Message is:

Connection rejected by server: Unable to find ‘steam’ identifier, please relaunch FiveM while making sure that the identifier provider is running
This is a Steam authentication failure, but you are running Steam and it is signed in. The server owner can find more information in their server console.

Can someone please help me?

Hello Adrian_chupi,

did you adjust your steam api key in your .cfg file? It’s important for the Steam authentication.

Not because I don’t have a Steam API account. There would be some option to disable Steam authentication ?

Hello Adrian_chupi,

Which version of es_extended (ESX) have you tried to install?
You can see this in the fxmanifest.lua.

description ‘ES Extended’

version ‘1.1.0’

– compatibility wrapper

fx_version ‘adamant’

Hello Adrian_chupi,

you tried to install a very old version of es_extended. This version use the steam identifier instead of the rockstar identifier in the newer versions. So you need the steam api key to use esx.
