Some Analysis about FiveM Releases

Motivation

In the recent times, the number of Paid Releases have drastically increased. The FiveM Releases section which at one point in time was known for most of its Free Release Listings, is now overloaded with Paid Releases. (I am also a contributor xD)

While it is very much obvious that FREE Releases catch more attention of a person visiting the section in search for FiveM Resources, I was curious about whether it actually made a difference in terms of View Count / Like Count when releasing a Free / Paid Script, and so I decided to do some data analysis.

About the Dataset

Using a basic python script built over Selenium, I obtained the following parameters of about 2518 Release Posts in the FiveM Releases section.

  • Title of the Script
  • The Link of the Post
  • The Like Count
  • The View Count
  • Cost Status of Script - PAID / FREE

Observations

Out of the 2518 releases, 583 were FREE, and 1935 were PAID.

All of the Top 10 Most Viewed scripts were FREE

All of the Top 10 Most Liked Scripts were PAID

A Boxplot highlighting how Views on Free Scripts were on the higher side compared to Paid Scripts

A Distribution of Views vs Likes (FREE / PAID Scripts highlighted using different colors)

Conclusion and Disclaimer

I just created this post to share what I observed, and there’s no specific reason other than that of me doing all this, honestly I was just bored and curios!

The script that was used to obtain this data was made in a way that it had adequate wait time between subsequent calls to prevent any kind of unwanted load on the server. If someone wishes to use the data I collected, feel free to contact me for the same; I will delete the data in 2 days time to prevent any kind of misuse, though I don’t think there is any.

This just seems like a long way to advertise your own store framed as a discussion post.

He could have just made a worthless paid script like everybody else and no one would have said anything but he takes time to nerd out on something that is fairly interesting and oh no cancel him. You’d be happier mindin ya business more often.

Gotta love numbers

Would love to see an “average over time” distribution for views and likes

Very interesting indeed. Would love if it was possible to remove all the “fake” engagement that many resources get and then see the results.
The first three topics listed have nowhere near enough clicks to merit that amount of likes. And the comments speak for themselves. (I only checked the first three from your list)

Just look at the first topic from “Top 10 Most Viewed free scripts” which has 8k views but only 32 likes. Which is very much the “norm” for most very good free releases. One of my free releases has 140k+ views but only 66 likes :sob: (released 6 years ago), my newest one has 2k views and 26 likes (released 16 days ago).

You would expect free releases to get much more likes which is actually true if you exclude the “fake” engagement with many paid releases. I’m glad the release section rules got overhauled so hopefully this isn’t as much of a problem as it was.

Thanks for the stats, appreciate the work :+1:

Why be so negative when you can be happy and appreciative?

I would somewhat agree; we have to do quite a lot of things to get people attention to paid scripts, and that is probably the reason why they have dominated the list of Most Liked Scripts.

Will try to see what more I can get from the posts, and maybe make another post with more analysis in a few days. On a break from making new scripts and this seems interesting.

Another thing I noticed when I came back (2023 break) I saw how many paid scripts were easily made garbage what was available for free, the only difference would be a few fixes and features.

Thank you for sharing with us  I love to see concrete numbers for the analysis.

I don’t understand why some people here take it so badly that you introduced yourself and your store. You took the time to write the script, evaluate it and share it with us, and you did it for free.
Would know over 10 people who would want money for it…

Great analysis. One thing also worth mentioning

All of the Top 10 Most Liked Scripts were PAID

This is most likely caused by an artifical engagement caused by some creators promising giveaways/free scripts for likes and engagement. Luckily this has now been officially disallowed by the forum rules
