I don’t know server reviews were announced or they just started appearing for all of us?
People are just leaving bad reviews without even playing in server.
Never seen this guy who reviewed and he can just write this?

By the way, how do you add review to server?
Hello.
Hopefully, the “NEVER PLAYED” mention make his review not really serious.
Even with this in mind, it could be nice to let users who have played more than two hours to review the server.
I’m sorry for you.
The fact that the https://mastodon.social/ are hidden on server page and they prefer server reviews first is really bad. As owners, we cant even ban people thinking they will do this.
Just about time people make 10 accounts and yelp the whole server down.
That’s not the case at all: the feed still shows up above reviews. Are you talking about users scrolling down and preferring server reviews, or who are ‘they’ in this context?
Take the GLife Extinction server for example, note the review post/list is below the feed:
In addition to that, any obvious review bombing can be marked as unhelpful or flagged, and should quickly be drowned in helpful reviews since they’re sorted by vote count.
Users with more than two hours of play time of course are able to review servers! There’s no time limitation to being able to review at this time, both due to a technical limitation making this undoable for the first release, and, again, as these should be moderated fairly effectively.
I’m not sure why you’re thinking that users who have played for more than two hours are not able to review, though, did you misphrase your post perhaps?
Anyone, not just owners, can flag an obviously invalid review for moderation. There’s this little flag button:
If you feel the need to provide more context in a flag, you can do so by specifying ‘Something Else’ and entering a reason:
Any accounts flagged that are solely used for posting bad reviews will obviously get banned from posting reviews by us.
Reviews are only enabled for English-language servers at this time, as we do not have the ability to moderate reviews in other languages.
The announcement for this should’ve gone out at the same time it launched, but it seems we forgot to write/publish it.
We do not see the same screen as you are. The only way to add a new review for us is to manually make a post on the Server Reviews category and tagging our cfx.re link thingy.
In your screenshot, you can see only one review, a bad one.
What about vote bombing?
How can someone decide if its going to be taken down or kept it as it is? Server owners can just announce a report bomb (or not). There is no proper way to address this issue.
Also, competitors? “Legit” players can join server and then review bomb if they get lambo in their competitor’s server.
I think there should be a option for owners to decide if they want reviews or not. Making communities more tox*c is not the way we want things to go please.
Are you logged in to the game at all?
Flag it, yet again.
… then every ‘owner’ will disable reviews on obviously bad-faith servers. That’s really… not how this should work either.
Instead of non-constructive criticism like the above, how about some constructive criticism instead? What would ‘better’ be? What’s wrong with flagging bad-faith reviews?
Not having anything of that sort maybe? I bet there are more requests from people that might be more important then a feature to introduce more tox*city in communities.
My suggestion :
Maybe try publicly releasing 64+ slots for free? I bet there are no bugs left to still keep it in beta for more then 2 years now? Also EUP please.
Or even more important, why not use the same escrow system to encrypt “ALL” of the client files for all of the servers by default? Then we don’t need to worry about client dumping?
Unpopular opinion:
The people complaining have no right too.
If they are getting vote dumped, then its a them issue.
They can either learn to moderate it themselves or provide a quality server/place to play and actually target their market correctly without the need to scam cash out of people.
Tldr; Don’t scam people out of money or actually be proactive, then no problem?
Please proceed to dump on me.
Who are you? Do you own a server?
Also, where did this money part come in here? Do you know what is this discussion about?
^ _ ^ includes all of us? or just the people who have public servers?
lol moderators deleted the last 2 comments. smh.
Yeah you seem totally irrational in your thoughts. Your server obviously deserves the reviews it’s getting. Fix your server.
Disregarding that you’ve completely ignored the point of providing constructive criticism on server reviews:
Nothing stops you from asking nicely to get these benefits without pledging on Patreon. Contributing to the project will help with requesting such but it looks like you have no intention of ever giving back to any community.
You can do this already. Any resources that you run though the escrow system you are also automatically entitled to run on your own servers! Doing this “by default” isn’t viable. A technical limitation you just need to deal with.
‘Better’ being ‘don’t do anything’ is a little odd. Where’d this attitude come from?
I asked to be constructive above. That comment is the opposite of that.
Disregarding this sudden concern being entirely off-topic, each of these features can already be obtained for free if you build from source. The only thing you’re paying for is the functionality being enabled in official builds, and in the official server listing.
In addition to that, as @Jaymo said above, any constructive community will be able to apply to get these options for free. I believe even some RP communities ended up in the ‘manual grant’ list due to their contributions to improve the ecosystem.
Not having any paid functionality would severely hinder the project’s chance of survival or further maintenance. I’m not sure how this topic went from server reviews being supposedly a bad thing to you wanting to kill off the project.
There’s a few technical reasons for this to not be viable as a ‘default’ at all, such as the reliance on a centralized server to handle this (as Lua byte code is not a secure environment if the generator can’t be trusted), and debugging ability for development servers
Similarly, you can already ‘use the same escrow system to encrypt all of the client files’ for use on your own server, if you’re so worried about ‘client dumping’ (i.e. due to bad client code design that puts a lot of logic there and only uses the server as glue, but yet not having enough added value in your server’s ecosystem that someone can be successful by ‘ripping off’ code).
Similarly, these worries would be solved as well by reporting any server that directly uses ‘dumped’ content.
No posts got deleted in this topic at all. Since it’s not really possible to see your own deleted posts, how are you so certain that is the case?
I even checked the list of rejected posts, but none of your rejected posts were in this topic. They, however, included some bad-faith comments on some other topics that were considered as aiming to stir drama.
Hello !
I made a mistake, sorry, I’m French! x)
I meant to say, limit the reviews to registered users who have two hours of gameplay on the-said server.
Reviews are only enabled for English-language servers at this time, as we do not have the ability to moderate reviews in other languages.
If i’m french, where to apply as moderator ?
I would like to see it on french servers too.
There should be a way for server owners to be able to disable reviews
