Hello! I was wondering how I could keep my Fivem Server running when I turn my PC off. Is there a free way to do this, if so, Let me know? Basically, I want to be able to run the server, with my PC off, and yet people can still join it.
you should host a fivem server on a vps. localhost is most used for testing, not hosting a server.

Yeah, separate your builds. VPS will run your production build and be on 24/7, your PC will run dev build. Use git to make this easy. You can host for free too, you can use your school email to get $100 DO credit

$100 credit, But how long will it last? Forever? or will I have to pay eventually? along with that is there any setup tutorials?

Using an external server to host fivem will typically have monthly costs associated with it as you’re basically renting computer hardware at a data center. It can be as low as $10 or less a month.
I recently set up a server using Linux for performance reasons. You can also set it up on windows, but if you’re using an external server there are typically licensing fess associated with windows. Linux is free, but there is a bit of a learning curve. You can also use 3rd party hosting managers that make your job a lot easier.
Depending on whether you use windows, linux, or a 3rd party hosting provider there are different things you will want to look into. If you want to learn a lot about computers I’d recommend going the linux route, but if you just want to play I would use a 3rd party hosting service. Fivem recommends ZapHosting, but you can just google “fivem hosting”.

To keep a server on 24/7 you will need to have your computer on. There is no way around that.
You shouldn’t be using your personal PC to host. The solution you are looking for is called dedicated hosting where your gaming server runs on a dedicated setup 24/7. You can achieve this through renting a host, vps, or setting up your own server on a computer.
Most people will recommend getting a VPS or host as this is the easiest way to get started and is very reliable. You don’t have to worry about port forwarding, and some services even have great Ddos mitigation. Hosts / vps are just easier than doing all the work on a home hosted computer. Not to mention most people don’t have the proper internet to support hosting.
That being said, home hosting is still a very viable option depending on your uses and needs. Looking to keep a private server for friends on 24/7? Home hosting might be the better solution. Looking to run a public server with all the bells and whistles, get a host / vps or be prepared to spend more in the short term.
Regardless of what option you choose for hosting, there is no free option. Even using your own computer takes an internet / electric bill and the cash used to buy the computer. Good luck to you!
