We created this visual mod for a few players with photosensitive epilepsy in our community and I thought it would be great to share with everyone. This visual mod eliminates all emergency lights on vehicles as well as the reflections. Works on all emergency vehicles including addon/custom ones.
This is a client-side mod. It’s not server-side, and it only affects the player that installs it.
Installation:
Right click on the FiveM icon on your desktop and select “Open file location.” From there, open the FiveM Application Data folder, then citizen, then common, then data, and put the custom visualsettings.dat file on that folder.
If you already have a visualsettings.dat file, it may be a good idea to back it up first.
Look… this release clearly isn’t for you if it’s no use to you why complain? If you have epilepsy and use this I’m pretty sure you’d get in the habit of checking behind you every so often for police lights even then I don’t use the lights only to know when I get pulled over, cops have this magical thing called a siren and if I hear one I check behind me and then pull over if it’s for me.
This resource is designed to help a very small group of people with a real world issue. Epilepsy can be deadly and in the group of people that have epilepsy, fast moving or flashing lights can put some into a seizure.
This isn’t a server side mod that affects everyone in the server. It’s client side for people that NEED this in order to protect themselves in the real world while enjoying some RP like us normal people. So if you are not Photosensitive, you don’t need to use this. But it sure is nice to have on hand to offer your players that might be. I know I’ll be adding this to my community website in case it’s ever needed.

Seeing things like this make me want to strive so I can do the same. I enjoy the community giving back to some people even if it may be a small amount just so they can enjoy their time here. Even better, giving something like this away for free instead of making people pay for it like others might have done. Now, I know nothing about photosensitive epilepsy, but if it can be done without causing any harm, I would think changing the lights to a steady burn instead of completely off would give back some RP quality all while keeping the user safe. That way, you still have lights and sirens, just without any of the harmful flashing. That’s just my thought. Besides that, amazing release
I agree that steady burn would be great. This was my first attempt at building a custom visualsettings and I was sort of guessing my way through it. I’m pretty sure there’s no way to make them a steady burn client side as that’s something that’s controlled by carcols which is server-sided.
If anyone knows a way to do so, I’d be happy to update the mod!
Really good release! I understand that some players find this release not needed but there is a small group of people that has epilepsy and wants to play RP. This is for them and im really happy to see that someone actually wants to help by making releases like this. Keep up the good work!
