Screen flashes from desktop to black screen couple of times and RedM doesn’t launch at all. I tried to change In Game settings from Vulkan to dx12, reinstalled all, primary graphics was changed from intel to nvidia but nothing works… I have no issue with FiveM it works perfectly.
Hey! I found this thread while investigating issues my partner was having with RedM as well! Same error code, black screen, same stack trace, etc. After going down a very long rabbit hole, I found a workaround that I wanted to share in case it works for you as well!
He’s playing on an ASUS Tuf Gaming laptop with Intel and Nvidia graphics support. I ended up discovering that the problem was with his Intel UHD Graphics 630 driver, which caused the igvk64.dll error and subsequent crash. I tried to set all programs to run off Nvidia, but to no avail. I fully disabled the Intel driver and RedM immediately started working! No crashes, no lag, etc. However, with just the Nvidia driver, Red Dead itself was unplayable, getting approx. 2 frames a minute. Sooo if you disable your Intel driver and find that Red Dead doesn’t perform well, here’s our current workaround that I confirmed works and allows him to connect to a server and play RDO with optimized performance:
Disable Intel driver in Device Manager.
Launch RedM.
While RedM is open, reenable Intel driver.
Adjust Display scaling as needed to bring RedM on screen.
Connect!
There are still a few kinks I’m trying to work out, mainly that RedM refuses to full screen. But that is an issue I’d much prefer over this ridiculous error! Hopefully this helps!
