Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing persistent crashes on RedM with the error: ERR_GFX_D3D_DEFERRED_MEM
The crash occurs before the server loading screen, right after launching RedM.
My specs:
- Intel Core i3
- GeForce GT 1030 (2GB VRAM)
- 8GB RAM
- Windows 10 (fresh install, brand new profile)
Red Dead Redemption 2 runs flawlessly — both offline and online — no crashes at all. I’ve played RedM for years with zero issues, but now it suddenly started crashing every time.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
- Switched graphics API between DirectX 12 and Vulkan
- Set graphics settings to minimum in RDR2
- Increased virtual memory (paging file: 12000MB initial, 24000MB max)
- Disabled Steam overlay, GeForce Experience, Discord, etc.
- Deleted shader caches and RedM caches
- Reinstalled RedM in a folder outside “Program Files” (
C:\RedMClient
) - Created
commandline.txt
with:
-ignorepipelinecache
-nomousegrab
-graphicsMemoryScale 0.5
- Disabled “Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling” and Game Mode
- Reset the entire PC last night and created a new Windows user account
Despite all this, RedM still crashes instantly before reaching the server screen.
Does anyone have suggestions, or is this a known issue with the GT 1030 or RedM’s memory allocation? Really appreciate any help — thanks in advance!
