RedM adds English (US) keyboard layout on every launch (not added by any other game)

What is the issue you’re having?

Every time I launch RedM, an extra “English (United States) - US” keyboard layout appears in the Windows input switcher (Win+Space), even though my Windows only has Croatian (hr-HR) installed.

  • Get-WinUserLanguageList shows only hr-HR (041A:0000041A)
  • HKCU\Keyboard Layout\Preload and HKU.DEFAULT\Keyboard Layout\Preload contain only 0000041a
  • Settings > Language & region lists only Croatian
  • The US layout appears as soon as RedM starts and stays after I close the game
  • It does NOT appear when I launch regular Red Dead Redemption 2 / Red Dead Online
  • No other game I have adds it

What have you tried already to fix the issue?

  • Removing the layout from Settings and from the registry (Preload, CTF keys, International\User Profile)
  • Set-WinUserLanguageList hr-HR -Force (does nothing on its own while the layout is active)
  • Adding en-US and removing it again via PowerShell (this removes it, even while in game), but it comes back on the next RedM launch
  • Disabling language switch hotkeys
  • Checked that Text Input Management Service is running
