Rare commits (GitHub)

I look at GitHub and I see that commits are rare. Why?

Because all the experimental stuff does not happen on the public repository. Only new features (from private repositories), bug fixes and pull requests get committed to the public repo.

So no commits doesn’t mean the project is dead or anything.
