Providence Roleplay | Heavy Text Roleplay | Semi-Realism | 1900 Frontier

Providence is a Territory in the American frontier at the turn of the century, caught between the untamed and lawless wilds and the march towards statehood, industry and progress.

Our focus is immersive, player-driven storytelling and writing supported by deep custom systems built to create meaningful roleplay rather than shallow sandbox gameplay.

Most of our features are fully custom and available nowhere else.

Lore and Worldbuilding

Set within a custom interpretation of the Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest in 1900 with extensive original lore surrounding the settlements, industries, laws, railways and reservations of the Territory.

We also have a fully developed tribal culture, the Téewiptinim (Wapiti), with its own history, traditions, language and roleplay opportunities grounded in real regional inspirations.

Major Features

  • Roles & Jobs | Apply for a whitelisted profession or property and unlock additional RP opportunities, crafting and perks, including access to our multiple job system and monthly supply crates.

What is Text Roleplay?

Most RedM servers use voice chat to roleplay, but text servers use the in-game chat box to write descriptive emotes and dialogue. If you enjoy writing, text roleplay is a creative medium to tell engaging, serious stories with others.

Server Culture

We are friendly and welcoming. We do not condone toxic behavior or bigotry of any kind and are a LGBTQ+ inclusive server.

We do have standards for roleplay realism, historical accuracy and quality. However, we are very willing to help you to make a character that fits the server. We have a low barrier to entry as long as players are willing to learn and play historically-logical characters.

Realistic conflict RP is welcome and encouraged. No trolly characters allowed.

Big Ass Horse Update

New Breeds

The new script update comes with several new breeds. Unlike most breed additions, these use entirely new models. Some breeds have been renamed to be more fitting for our lore and setting. Our Narrative Justification: For the most part, we do try to only use historical breeds that existed in the US in 1900 as well as breeds that are made up in our lore. But on occasion, we make some minor allowances where it’s conceivable a small number could have made their way to the US or are prototypes of what was eventually established as a modern-day breed (e.g. Quarter Horses existed in 1900 despite the breed registry not being created til the 1940s). With that in mind, the new breeds are:

Horse Market

  • You can now access the Horse Market at any stable.

  • This is a marketplace integrated with the normal stable menu that allows you to browse horses for sale.

  • Any player can buy horses, but only horse roles can list new horses for sale.

  • Stallions can also be listed for stud services. Keep in mind doing so removes it from your horse list til it’s bred. It returns to the owner after 48 hours if not used for breeding.

QoL Updates

  • You can now set an unlimited number of horses to your favorites.

  • The owned horses menu can be sorted by breed, alphabetical, gender, etc. Horses are also listed on multiple pages to theoretically make it faster to quickly navigate large stables. The display options can be edited so feedback on how it feels is welcome.

  • Horse ownership has been optimized. Now normal players can own 30 horses and horse roles can own 100 horses.

  • Reodered the options in the individual horse menu to make it easier to hit the up arrow and go to the bottom to access important options there.

Breeding Prices

  • Breeding prices are now dynamic and range from $15 - $600 depending on the price of the horses.

  • HOWEVER, there’s currently a bug where breeding prices are not displaying consistently in the breeding UI. To figure out what you’ll be charged, look at the value of the parents and consult the attached price chart.

  • If it’s a cross between two breeds, add up the default value of both parents and divide it by 2 (e.g. $800 Anglo + $4000 Arabian ÷ 2 = $2,400 which results in a $360 breeding fee)

Known Issues

  • Wild horses are not currently available. There’s a big update coming for them but there’s currently prohibitive bugs.

  • The lunge whip isn’t currently working.

Live now. Please be aware this is an escrowed script that we can customize but can’t actually ‘fix’ if it has a bug, so please be patient. The script makers are efficient in fixing bugs but it still might take a little if something’s off. <3

Wild Horse Update

  • The new SireVLC Wild Horses script is now fully implemented.
  • Thanks to the new script, we are no longer limited to vanilla horse colors and breeds as wild horses. Now, if a breed spawns, every single color of that breed has the possibility to spawn. There are a total 611 individual horses available as wild horses.
  • Due to their dramatically increased desirability, it is no longer free/cheap to adopt horses. Now you will be charged 25% of the horse’s stable value, e.g. a $200 Appaloosa will cost $50 to adopt and an $800 Anglo-Arabian will cost $200 to adopt.
  • To offset this a bit, now every single wild horse that spawns can be sold for $50 (minus the ambient wild spawns which sell for $5 each, e.g. basic Morgans/Saddlers/Walkers and the vanilla wild Thoroughbreds/Mustangs/Appaloosas).
  • Brand new spawn locations have been added. Every county has a different spawn pool of potential breeds, represented by the red dots on the map. The blue dots are region-specific breeds; each has a maximum of two breeds that can spawn there.

Horse Update

  • Many horses have had their stable prices adjusted since their price now directly impacts breeding and adoption price. All but a few have been lowered in price (sometimes by a lot!) rather than increased.

RPQM Rules Reminder

  • Only whitelisted horse trainers, native trainers and stable employees with horse experience should be taming wild horses.

Taming Tip

  • Don’t run around too crazily when you reach a spawn area. Just wait it out and look around. This script makes the horses roam that area instead of taking off and running forever, so if you don’t see it immediately, it will wander back.

Horse Coats & Fixes

Added numerous new RARE coats which can only be obtained through breeding: Tobianos: 55 Overos: 44 Solids: 19 Snowflakes: 5 Duns: 2 Fixes:

  • Lunging now works again.

Player Shops Update: Secondary Shops & Minimum Prices

Secondary Shops

  • Now if you have a Shop License of any type, you can unlock a secondary shop.
  • This allows you to have a shop in a primary location (such as a business or property) and a second shop in a second location (such as selling a curated selection of goods for an event or simply having two vendors with different types of items on them in the same location, etc).
  • To unlock a secondary shop, open your primary shop and click the Create Secondary Shop button. You will be charged a one-time $50 cash fee.
  • Place it anywhere like a normal shop (double click the Shop License in your inventory). It will ask you if you wish to put your Primary or Secondary shops there.
  • Keep in mind you will need to set up webhooks and pay maintenance on both shops, as well as pick up funds from each one manually. Nothing is connected between shops, including employees.
  • Naturally these shops are still subject to RPQM audits. Please don’t set them up in places that make no IC sense, on properties you don’t own (without the owner’s permission), etc.

Minimum Prices

  • As part of our ongoing efforts to balance the economy, every item in the game now has a minimum price. This price is automatically calculated based off of its vendor sale price if you sold either that item or the materials used to craft it to an NPC shop.
  • For instance, you can sell an Alfalfa Hay Bale to any farmer’s market for $7.48, so if you sell it for less than that on your player shop you are losing money.
  • Player shops now automatically boost the minimum value to a bit higher than what you can sell it to NPCs for.
  • This update has been automatically applied to all live player shops.
  • When listing an item, you can click the ‘min’ button to list an item for its minimum price. However, don’t feel obligated to go as cheap as you can. Remember, this is the minimum price and it’s entirely fair and realistic to charge higher for premium items.
  • NOTE: You CAN go under the minimum price with sales, meaning you can still give other players a good deal. This is just an effort to stabilize the economy by giving everything a baseline value.

New Feature: In-Game Items Database

  • Now if you type /items you will be able to open an in-game item database. You can search for items or browse by category to see what any item in the game is worth.
  • There are categories for Farming, Fishing, Hunting, Lumber, Mining, Blacksmithing, General, Weapons & Ammo, Stolen Goods, Cooking and crates of each type.
  • There are also categories for Export Goods and Export Horses to see what those items sell for on export day.
  • The UI displays the minimum market price, ingredients used, crafting book used to create it and (if applicable) export price.

EXPORT DAY Bonus Feature: Specialty Items

  • While export days are already exciting ways to unload unwanted items/horses and make money, we have also added a selection of specialty items with the following effects:

Storage Specialty Items

All of these items store a specific type of item. On top of that, they can be crafted from–so for instance, you can store all your cooking mats in a Provisions Pantry and craft recipes without cluttering your main inventory.

  • Prospector’s Sack | Stores raw mining materials | $1,000
  • Provisions Pantry | Stores cooking ingredients | $500
  • Blacksmith Box | Stores crafted ingots | $500
  • Crafting Trunk | Stores general crafting ingredients | $500
  • Butcher’s Barrel | Stores uncooked meat | $500
  • Trapper’s Chest | Stores hunting materials | $500
  • Fisherman’s Chest | Stores uncooked fish and seafood | $500
  • Farmer’s Bushel | Stores crops from farming and herb gathering | $750
  • Rancher’s Chest | Stores all materials from ranching | $500
  • Lumber Chest | Stores raw wood and processed wood ingredients | $1,000
  • Seed Satchel | Stores seeds for all crop types | $500
  • Chef’s Supply Chest | Stores finished food and drinks | $500

Horse Specialty Items

  • Horse Training Books | These increase the stats of your active horse by +1, allowing you to max out stats that are not normally obtainable for that breed. These stat bonuses transfer to foals, making them invaluable for breeders. | $250
  • Broodmare Certification | Mares can only have 10 foals; this certification resets your mare’s foal count to 0, allowing you to continue breeding her. | $500

Random Crates

  • Abandoned Crate | Opens into 5 random crafting materials, 25-50 per stack. | $25

Stables Update

Added a new and improved stables UI with faster performance, easier sorting and searching and overall polish.

  • Pedigrees | Now you can click the icon next to a bred horse’s name to view its multi-generation pedigree. You can zoom out to see the full pedigree; it tends to be zoomed in when you first open it. Note that some horses with deleted parents may show incomplete pedigrees if no record remains of their own parents. Going forward, no pedigree info should be lost with this update.
  • Horse Filters | Click the “order” button to open the Horse Filters options. This has a search box as well as filters for the order you want orders to show up in on your list, breed, gender, coat color, gene and pattern.

Horse Market

  • You can now search and filter horses in the market.
  • You should no longer be forced to price horses for 0 gold.

Tack

  • New saddles added under Valentine Saddles.

New MLO: Valentine

  • The previous Valentine MLO has been replaced with the newly released Valentine Reborn from Spooni.
  • Performance should be increased with this MLO (i.e. less lag) but as always with a new MLO you will likely experience some initial lag/weird empty buildings the first time you load it. Once it downloads the first time, it should load quickly after that.
  • This adds interiors to the surrounding Valentine houses as well. Some of these still need to be set up properly so please have patience while we work that out with locking doors/etc.

New Fishing Script

  • The new fishing script is in and ready for testing. This script could really use some extensive assistance with helping test it and making sure it all works.
  • The old fishing markets have temporarily been removed (they will return with some modifications soon).
  • The current fishing market locations are Flat Iron Lake and San Luis River.
  • Lure type now matters. You can see which lures attract which fish in the compendium.
  • You can fish from the shore or from a fishing boat.
  • There are also fishing delivery missions you can do for some extra money.
  • Every fish type now creates fillets of that specific type of fish. This can be done at fishing shops or via the cookbook.
  • You can now RP while fishing! The chat box should work while your line is cast.

Known Issues

  • The legendary fish map isn’t in yet and will be after next restart.

Coming Soon

  • Cookbook recipes for each type of fish fillet.
  • More locations for the new fish shops and delivery missions.
  • The old-style fishing markets where you can easily buy and sell will come back soon.
  • Price adjustments for fishes to account for the new slightly increased difficulty.

Player Shop Updates

Added the following new features:

Buying Events
You can now set your shop to have a buying event, which means you want to pay more than your normal prices for items you buy from other players.

For instance, if your shop normally buys horseshoes for $12, maybe you run out and decide you’re willing to pay $24 each for a limited time. You can create a buying event and set the price increase up to 100% to buy them for double price.

You can choose any number from 1-100 to determine how much more you want to pay, and you can either apply it to all items in your shop or specific ones.

When your shop is having a buying event, it’s indicated on the map and gains a blue icon.

Keep in mind you can’t have a sale and buying event running at the same time; they cancel each other out.

Individual Item Limits
Obviously the point of player shops is to list items for sale for players to buy. However, some items are also very time consuming to make and useful to many players, so it can be disruptive when someone buys out the entire stock.

We’ve added the optional ability to set a Daily Limit for every player. Items have no limit by default, but if you only want people to be able to buy 2 Cabbage a day, you can do that.

We highly recommend only using this feature on items that actually need rationing instead of everything in your shop. Players do like to buy in bulk and that isn’t a bad thing, so save it for the things you can’t seem to keep in stock and/or take a long time to make. This makes sure your customers will always have access to them.

Restock from the Management Window
As a small QoL feature, you can restock straight from the Management window without having to go to Add Items.

This lets you add additional items from your inventory if you already have some listed in your shop.

Suffragette Signs!

Just in time for the event today, you can now equip signa to support the suffragette movement.

There are 5 designs which you can apply by typing:

  • /suf 1
  • /suf 2
  • /suf 3
  • /suf 4
  • /suf 5

You can remove them by typing:

  • /dsuf

Special thanks to Degu for making them work properly and for King Rat modeling the sign.
