Players and vehicles flickering on all servers - extensive troubleshooting done

What is the issue you’re having?

Players, vehicles and NPCs flicker (appear/disappear rapidly) on all servers. It happens randomly while standing still, and always briefly after teleporting. Temporary fix: moving far away and coming back forces entities to reload correctly.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?

  • Clean install Nvidia driver 595.79 (DDU)
  • Updated Realtek LAN driver to latest version
  • Disabled Energy Efficient Ethernet + power management on NIC
  • Tuned NIC advanced settings (interrupt moderation, buffers)
  • Nvidia Control Panel: max performance power mode, low latency ultra, triple buffering
  • Extended Texture Budget maxed out
  • Cleared FiveM cache
  • Reinstalled FiveM completely
  • Reinstalled GTA V completely
  • Tested without mods/plugins
  • Tested with only 1 screen (normally using 3)
  • GTA V story mode: zero flickering, issue is FiveM-specific
  • Ping to 8.8.8.8: stable 4-8ms, zero packet loss
  • In-game packet loss: intermittent spikes to 4% during flickering events

Bump.. Can this issue be looked into once and for all?

This has been a issue that has been across FiveM for multiple years now and although it has been considered relatively rare for quite some time recently it’s started to happen to a lot more people, a lot more often.

The issue is network/ISP related and to keep changing ISPs or using VPNs all of the time is not a solution at all. I’ve previously experienced this years ago and the only permanent solution was to completely change my ISP. Using my exact same hardware, everything worked flawlessly.

VPNs may act as a temporary workaround but they arent convinient whatsoever and they surely wont fix the root cause. Now I’ve started to experience this issue once again at a completely different location with a ISP that I’ve been using for a long time flawlessly on FiveM and all of the sudden the issue is back. As of recently, a lot of people have also suddenly started to experience this issue out of the blue.

I’ve also observed intermittent packet loss spikes only within FiveM during these flickering events, while external pings remain perfectly fine with 0% loss.

I’ve experienced this at two completely different physical locations now with completely different ISPs. The first time I encountered this, changing my ISP fixed everything, and my hardware remained the exact same.

Any help would be great, it’s really about time this issue gets looked into.
