Woosh Books is a script that allows players to craft books and read them!
It comes with the functionality of being able to put any image link as the book’s page.
You can then give the book item to a player for them to read.
Alongside books, there will be functionality to make posters or leaflets!
You can also easily copy books so that you don’t need to go through the whole process to make multiple!

Features:

  • Create books using images.
  • Create leaflets using images.
  • Read created books, via custom UI that allows you to flip through the book’s pages.
  • Read created leaflets, via custom UI.
  • Create copies of books by using a created book by a printing press, so you do not need to go through the whole creation process again for multiple books.
  • Config to whitelist printing presses by job or CID.
  • Config to set printing press locations.
  • Config to use peek or simple interaction (by pressing E) on the printing press.
  • Export to call to open the book or leaflet crafting menu via other scripts.
    The export is: exports[‘woosh_books’]:CraftBookLeaflet()

Along with the script is a documented configuration file, as well as a README on how to install the script and any requirements needed.
Inventory item images are included with the script.
There is also support for older versions of QB-Core.

Code is accessible: No, however, the config is accessible. The client and server code is escrowed.
Subscription-based: No
Lines (approximately): 800
Requirements: QBCore
Support: Yes.

An ESX version planned?

Unfortunately not, it relies alot on metadata and I’m not even sure ESX has metadata capabilities on their items.

Script is very unoptimized. I use the target config and for whatever reason it still uses distance checks and retrieving player data constantly. Brought this to the attention of Woosh on 5/11 they let me know it would be fixed soon and followed up on 5/23 for an update only to be left on read.
It’s a neat idea but there are plenty out there that are free and open source, that you won’t experience these issues or lack of support with.

You weren’t left on read, I develop for a roleplay community and my DM’s tend to get swamped. That’s what the WooshieWorks cord is for, I check that each morning I wake up. I already told you the script was made using typescript by one of the team members who hasn’t been around for a while. Being that I can’t code in typescript (I only really know lua), I’m at the mercy of waiting for them to come around. Even then, the issues aren’t enough to negatively impact your performance that much.

As this been updated at all, I saw in the may 2023 post that is unoptimized
