HMS IMPERATOR (Latin for “Emperor”)
Type: MLO
A monumental ship of the line in the classic 17th–19th century style.
- Masts: Three main vertical masts (foremast, mainmast, mizzenmast).
- Construction: Multi-tiered (topmasts, topgallant masts).
- Sails: Furled and secured along the yards.
- Bowsprit: Long, raked bowsprit.
- Rigging: Detailed complex network of standing and running rigging, including shrouds.
- Design: Massive hull with a high, square stern. Classic “striped” scheme – black sides divided by horizontal white belts. Rows of closed gun ports are located in the white belts. Multi-tiered, with elegant galleries and illuminated cabin windows.
