What is the issue you’re having?
Hi,
I’m experiencing a very strange issue with FiveM.
Problem
Native GTA V motion blur is completely absent in FiveM.
There is absolutely no camera/object motion blur, even with MotionBlurStrength enabled and maxed out.
However, GTA V Story Mode displays motion blur correctly on the exact same PC.
My setup
- Windows 11
- RTX 4070 Ti
- Latest NVIDIA driver
- Epic Games version (Legacy)
- FiveM b3258 (also tested Release, Beta and Canary)
What I already tested
- Story Mode → motion blur works.
- FiveM Release → no motion blur.
- FiveM Beta → no motion blur.
- FiveM Canary → no motion blur.
- Launched Story Mode through the FiveM launcher.
- Deleted FiveM cache.
- Verified GTA files.
- Fresh FiveM installation.
- MotionBlurStrength = 1.0
- MotionBlurEnabled = true
- Different graphics presets.
- No ReShade.
- No ENB.
- No visual mods.
- Same result on every server.
Additional investigation
I inspected the FiveM process and confirmed that FiveM injects its own CitizenFX modules (adhesive.dll, scripting-gta.dll, etc.).
I also attempted GPU debugging using RenderDoc and NVIDIA Nsight Graphics to inspect whether the motion blur pass or velocity buffer is missing.
At this point, I no longer believe this is a graphics setting issue.
I’m wondering if FiveM disables or bypasses the native GTA V motion blur pass on certain hardware/drivers, or if there is a known compatibility issue with RTX 40-series GPUs.
Has anyone experienced this before, or can a CitizenFX developer confirm whether the native motion blur pipeline is modified by FiveM?
Thanks!
What have you tried already to fix the issue?
- Tested GTA V Story Mode (motion blur works correctly).
- Tested FiveM Release, Beta and Canary.
- Fresh FiveM installation.
- Cleared FiveM cache.
- Verified GTA V files through Epic Games.
- Tested different graphics presets.
- MotionBlurStrength enabled and set to maximum.
- No ReShade, no ENB and no visual mods.
- Tested on multiple servers.
- Launched GTA V through the FiveM launcher.
- Investigated the rendering pipeline using Process Explorer, RenderDoc and NVIDIA Nsight Graphics.
