Important parts

What is the issue you’re having?
This isn’t a recent issue, but FiveM eats up nearly 40% of my CPU and 20% of my GPU at the main menu. I’ve also noticed that it consumes the same amount of GPU while alt-tabbed once I’m in a server. I suspect this idle load may be affecting my performance in-game.

What are you trying to do?
Achieve better performance on low-to-mid graphics settings.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?
I’ve reinstalled FiveM, and then prior to reinstalling all my mods I tested to see what resource usage was like.

Error screenshot (if any):
N/A

What did you do to get this issue?
Nothing.

What server did you get this issue on? Be specific and name some, ‘all of them’ by itself isn’t useful!
My own well optimized server, as well as a friend’s server I help develop on. My friend’s server is Headwaters Roleplay, and I think our vegetation resources are what’s having the most impact. But this likely isn’t server specific, as I see the load on the main menu.

Additional comments

On a server with almost no resources I feel I should be getting close to 200 fps at my settings, especially with how old GTA is and the fact that the CFX devs have optimized GPU usage. Instead I get as low as 120 at times, and then once you add in a bunch of ymaps and scripts performance just tanks.

I will admit I am a bit spoiled from my 165hz monitor, and I’m used to playing on my own server with very few ymaps or mlos, so when I get on servers with lots of heavier resources the 60 to 70 fps just isn’t cutting it. I’m also kind of concerned about those with weaker systems if this is a bug with FiveM and not just a “me problem”, as I strongly suspect the mysterious load continues in-game.

I did notice one day about a couple of years ago that FiveM was suddenly using all my CPU cores more evenly and as a result was almost maxing them out, and that my framerate seemed a bit lower than usual on some servers. I believe this was slightly after I’d had a discussion with one of the Elements about trying to multi-thread Lua scripts on the client, because I found that FiveM would just demolish one core and leave the rest unused.
