Launching deletes the GTA 5 desktop shortcut

Whenever I launch FiveM, the regular GTA 5 desktop shortcut (which launches “GTAVLauncher.exe”) is deleted. I have a copy on standby to make replacing it easy, but it does get annoying.

Which antivirus/firewall software are you using?
Windows Defender, nothing else.

Did you try to disable/uninstall your Anti-virus?
Yes, but it didn’t help.

I have tried modifying the file permissions of the GTA 5 shortcut to make deleting impossible for the system and myself, but making execution still possible. However, it seems that to achieve this, even with inheritence disabled, I would have to change the properties of the desktop folder itself so it doesn’t include subfolders and files, which I would rather avoid.

I’d be happy for any ideas of fixing this through FiveM or Windows file permissions, as long as it ultimately works.

You removed bits of the support template, one of the questions within it would probably solve your problem which would be disabling your virus scanner to see if it stops, if it does then you need to add the fivem folder to its exceptions.

I’m sorry for leaving out potentially important parts of the template and edited the post to include them now.
I know you guys are doing your best to help and do this voluntarily, so the least I can do is make it as easy for you as possible.

I have now tried disabling my antivirus (which is just the Windows Defender) entirely, which unfortunately didn’t help. As such, I also didn’t add the FiveM folder to its exceptions.
