Is this really FiveM anymore? Criticism

Nothing gets done, there are no major improvements, and communication is severely lacking.

Prices remain the same, but server owners earn less than before due to all the restrictions—restrictions that mainly affect smaller servers, while some still run illegal and copyrighted content.

Code quality and understanding was always lacking thanks to the developers and owners who work on this project. Take a look at the ■■■■, rage docs and take an example.
Also it’s embarassing to censor the name of the competition. Shows your fear.

I don’t see any proper leadership decisions here—just laziness and a mindset of “it’s your problem if it doesn’t affect me.”

Other game communities have developers that don’t insult others or wish the worst upon them, but actually help each other. Whenever someone in a different community finds something new and exciting in the codebase, it get’s shared.

On this platform.
It will be part of a $99 encrypted script and forgotten forever.

Escrow itself is the biggest problem for code quality, if we dont count that nobody ever takes responsibility and assigns a member to work on the documentation.

Whenever someone discovers something useful in the engine, it doesn’t get documented properly and that is a shame and a permanent struggle for everyone involved working in this env.

It’s all about money, and nothing new or exciting is ever added. It’s always the same boring excuses, and problems go ignored for years. Issues open for years without any answer.
Who is even in charge here?

I’m disappointed in Cfx.re, even though I doubt they’ll care.
I hope someone can give me a more hopeful view for the future, but again i doubt it.

I’ve had this discussion with other server owners/creators on the platform, it’s more or less a waste of time to ask these questions because well, you’re not going to get an answer. If you are placing your hopes in a “revival” or “return to normalcy”, this has always been how FiveM has been.

It’s always been the MO of CFX to be vague/disconnected and with little direction.

Question you have to ask yourself is, whether it’s worth it to you financially/time wise to remain in this space despite these roadblocks.

If the answer is yes, just operate in this space with the expectation that none of the factors you listed will ever change or be fixed, and you’ll be a lot less stresed out about the general state of things.

If the answer is no, leave FiveM - you’re better off spending your time/money somewhere else. End of the day, whether it was a standalone project or under Rockstar, this is a multimillion dollar company depending on unpaid volunteers to do the majority of the work.

If you’re in this to run a profitable/financially sustainable operation you shouldn’t be wasting your time worrying about improvements other than to make suggestions, hope they get fixed, and move forward with expectations that they wont.

All very valid points. One of the reason a lot of us OG devs simply left. A few of us have tried to return over the past year or two and it simply isn’t worth the time or energy at this point.

Really sad to see, but as Josh pointed out, the only one(s) (I know a few pretty well and personally that cared about the project) were ousted and or left due to problems with Rockstar.

I don’t really give advice, but personally, I moved on to UE5 and UEFN and finding things much more enjoyable. I still have clients I’ve developed for trying to get me back to FiveM, and I’ve thought about it, but now with the overwhelming about of “Vibe Coders” making encrypted resources, and not knowing how to fix certain things, I’m less and less interested.

Normally I try to put a positive spin on things, but honestly, I don’t think better days are ahead, at least for FiveM.
