Is it possible to get a virus or malware/Bitcoin mining from a server?

How safe is it for a client when joining these servers.

Virus or malware - no, as long as you dont install any “launcher” for said server. All FiveM scripts are run sandboxed and, if you dont understand what that means, it basically implies that no script run on your client can reach outside of FiveM’s game process - it’s impossible to infect your files or install malware on your machine using a client script. (TheIndra explained something along these lines some weeks ago in another topic as well)
Now about Bitcoin mining, there has been a report about that, but it may as well be a false positive easily.
Generally, FiveM is really safe by itself, and you needn’t worry about your security when playing.

Thanks for this. One more question. When you mentioned launcher do u mean, when back in the day when server owner used to ask u to download a launcher thru a external link or do u mean downloading the launcher by joining the server?

I remember in the old days of arma servers and other game modes game servers asking the client to download a launcher thru a external link.

It’s impossible to force someone to download a launcher when joining the actual server, but there are some servers that require you to download “their own launcher” from an external website. That you should never do - just find a different server, as installing something on your PC that you’re not sure of what it does is a bad idea to say the least.
