Maybe on NVDIA or with OpenGL it is, but not with amdgpu/mesa drivers + DXVK and ESYNC or FSYNC. GTA V and GTA Online run absolutely flawless on it.
It can’t be more rubbish than Windows 10 is anyway.
I can’t even imagine how a native port could be done without completely rewriting the game. As far as I understand, FiveM depends on running GTA V and GTA V does not run on Linux natively.
Even if that “9th-generation enhanced version of GTA V” includes a Vulkan renderer (which I doubt it will), it’s still not a native port.
works fine in experimental local branch here without Wine (granted, only up to ‘Initializing Social Club’ as I’m missing a PE DLL loader, but don’t stick to existing views of what is/isn’t possible)
It’s not even about what is possible or not, but rather what is going to actually be done about it. Freeing PC gaming from Microsoft’s enslaving grip is possible for a long time, but serious attempts have been made only very recently: by DXVK team, Valve’s Steam Proton and Google Stadia.
I don’t really care that much about what it uses to run under the hood. As long as it runs on Linux in any way, shape or form and with acceptable performance - I’m happy.
Any news about when this will come out on b2060 build? I know its only been 2 days since release and it takes more time, just wanted to know if you have some estimated date
Preparations are complete but we’re waiting for RPH/SHV to update so we have a usable native table, as the few folks who have one already aren’t sharing.
I will absolutely be updating my IPL loader for this update. I still have a bunch of cool things planned for the project so you can expect an update in the hopefully near future. I am currently in the process of moving back to Arizona and my laptop that I used for coding died so I’ll have to use my desktop which is currently packes otherwise I’d be getting the loader ready for the update already.
Hoping to have an update soon after my move for it so that all we will have to do is wait on the new build to be available.
Edit: I also am eager for this to be working because R* made me very mad only allowing the beach party to be accessible in freemode.
The only bad thing about this DLC is that the island is riddled with ridiculous collisions; from the trees to invisible barriers around the island. If you stream the island, then you’re removing the barriers but if you’ve simply enabled the island by canary and latest artifacts, then you need to stream the modified files.
Also, kind of hoping Rockstar Editor will work as intended once Cayo Perico is officially part of the main branch
On a server my friend runs I used to have horrible FPS. Then, over time, he dug through all the scripts on his server and optimized most of them. Now I get almost the same FPS as I do in vanilla GTA.
I’ve been told that a fresh FiveM server installation with almost no scripts actually runs faster than vanilla GTA. However I can say from personal experience that a poorly developed server with horribly optimized scripts will tank your FPS, especially if you have a weak CPU.
