Revolutionizing Object Scaling in FiveM – My Lightweight CodeWalker Alternative!

Hey everyone, I’m excited to share that I’m working on a game-changing project for FiveM (and later for other platforms as well).

I’ve developed a lightweight variant of CodeWalker that allows real-time object scaling with bounds in-game – something not possible with existing tools.

I’ve skipped a lot of updates on other projects to focus on solving this, and today, I finally got the conversion logic working perfectly.

Big shoutout to Dexyfex and the CodeWalker open-source code, which played a huge role in making this possible.

The in-game functionality is already figured out, but I won’t be showcasing that yet until I’ve fully ported everything into my new NUI-based in-game UI.

Expect a release very soon! Stay tuned.

(Note: The image shown is a barebones build, meant to demonstrate that the conversion logic is fully functional.)

this makes no sense?

xml to ydr conversion is done with RPF explorer, drag and drop.

You talk about cw but show pictures of OIV?

I think you’re misunderstanding the purpose of this. Yes, RPF Explorer allows simple drag-and-drop XML to YDR conversion, but that’s not what this tool is about. What I’ve created goes far beyond that.

It allows in-game object scaling with collision updates,** something you can’t do with just RPF Explorer.

  • It fully automates the YDR update process instead of requiring manual conversion.
  • I use OpenIV to verify models, not for editing.
  • CodeWalker is open-source, but a lot of its core logic comes from OpenIV. If you knew how these tools were built, you’d understand why that matters.

Instead of assuming it “makes no sense,” I’d suggest looking deeper into how these systems actually work. Just because something is simple on the surface doesn’t mean that’s all there is to it."

I wasnt assuming, it was my opinion, we all have one. I have never had the need to scale an object in game so didnt/dont understand the requirement to do it.

Good luck, hope it works out

I mean useless or not, I think it’s a good way for OP to learn the filesystem of GTA, a good way for server owners and developers to do a specific function, and most importantly, if that functionality goes away from codewalker somehow, or players just want a different way to understand how this stuff works, I think it’s a good option. Who knows? Maybe his functionality will get merged into the main branch of codewalker or something…

I’m all for dedicated projects doing pretty much what other tools can do. We all stand to gain from it!

Not invalidating your opinion, just stating mine! LOL

Check out the YouTube preview I shared—it might change your opinion. This tool is set to evolve into a full-fledged 3D modeling solution for in-game use by FiveM server owners.
