I have been having this exact same issue since the client update yesterday (Dec 1st)…tried deleting cache, uninstalling FiveM and GTAV but none of these work so save your time with this folks! Hopefully another FiveM update comes out to fix this ASAP!!

I am getting the same error.
I get an error in the “mono-2.0” dll file and FiveM will not start. I have tried reinstalling.

I hope we find a solution soon!

What’s the encoding of your username directory? It seems like it’s invalid UTF-8 (legacy encoding such as Shift-JIS might cause an issue here) in the log file at least.

(C:\Users\うちゅう\, apparently - it might be a workaround to temporarily move FiveM to a directory without multi-byte characters until this is fixed, or change the system codepage to UTF-8 instead of Shift-JIS)

Hi @raton1 , try to change updateChannel to canary in CitizenFX.ini
if the line does not exist, add :

updateChannel=canary

It seems that FiveM has fixed the problem

(I didn’t need to delete anything, I just changed this file)

Where is this file located, and how do i do this?

Hi @ReedRunner ,

1: Win + R and write %localappdata%

2: Go in FiveM folder and open FiveM application data, in this folder you will find a file named CitizenFX.ini

3: Open CitizenFX.ini and write (if the line does not exist) UpdateChannel=canary
