[HOW TO] [SERVER FEED] Dedicated Space on fivem.social

Hey FiveM Crew!

Background: So, you know that struggle when you want to set up your server feeds but platforms like MSTDN are playing hard to get? I’ve been there. That’s why I’m stoked to introduce fivem.social – a sweet social media spot just for us in the FiveM world.

Why fivem.social? Seeing servers spread out on different platforms got me thinking. We needed a spot where all of us could hang out together. Enter fivem.social, giving every server its own VIP spot in one place.

Getting Started:

  1. Visit fivem.social
  • Create your account and dive into this unique space made just for your server.
  1. Configure Your Server Feed:
  • In your server.cfg file, toss in this line:
sets activitypubFeed yourUsername@fivem.social

Swap “yourUsername” with whatever cool name you pick on fivem.social.
3. Enjoy Unified Connectivity:

  • Fire up your FiveM server and soak in the goodness of seamless server feeds on fivem.social. Share updates, chat with your peeps, and enjoy your exclusive social space.

Spread the Word: Share this fivem.social scoop with your server buds. Let’s make fivem.social our official hangout – a place where all our FiveM stories come to life!

And hey, you're not tied down. Feel free to keep using other instances. But, imagine having all our buzz in one place, just like the CFX Forum. Let's make it happen!

Cheers for joining this ride!

Just as I was about to create a ‘how-to’ tutorial, you beat me to it! However, I’d like to enhance the tutorial by introducing a cool feature for implementing changelogs. You can post them on Mastodon, and it will automatically share them on your Discord channel and server profile.

Here’s how I accomplished this:

  1. Discord Bot Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to add a Discord bot and have a basic understanding of setting up permissions for the bot.
  2. Following the Tutorial: If you’ve already followed the fantastic tutorial by @TUDIOSAPR, you just need to invite the bot and have your account details ready because we’ll be creating a feed.
  3. Go to you bot of choice, I used this one; Discord bot: pachy.social

getting started

3A… Bot Invitation and Setup: You can invite the bot by using the following format:
you add it like this : username@fivem.social :+1:

:see_no_evil: :hear_no_evil: :speak_no_evil::see_no_evil: :hear_no_evil: :speak_no_evil::see_no_evil: :hear_no_evil: :speak_no_evil::see_no_evil: :hear_no_evil: :speak_no_evil:
Dont add it like you did it in
> server.cfg / sets activitypubFeed advancedroleplay@fivem.social

If everything is set up correctly, it will confirm that for you! If not, you’ll be notified with a friendly message.

Now, let me extend a warm welcome to you because you’ve just entered a smarter and easier way of sharing your changelog RSS feed across multiple platforms, all from one place. This brings several benefits, such as faster news updates, reliability, networking with other FiveM players, making your server profile stand out, and all this without much extra effort on your part. Additionally, you have the flexibility to customize your messages more easily, including adding pictures and more.

Here’s what you need to do after completing the setup:

  1. Go to your FIVEM.SOCIAL
  2. Look for the update box:
how to write and what happens
  3. write your message
    RESULT:
it will pop up like this in discord and in fivem server profile:
    discord message

I trust this information has proven helpful to you.

I eagerly anticipate following your journey on FIVEM.SOCIAL and witnessing the innovative ways you leverage this excellent addon for server development and community engagement.

Should you have any additional inquiries or require further assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out. Wishing you all the best in your endeavors!

ADVANCED MODE:(edited)
Suppose you have no intention of sharing links from fivem.social to your Discord, perhaps to avoid unnecessary promotion of your website details. In such a case, you can effortlessly incorporate the single free filter option:
http
image

this will remove all links, from be sent do discord.
you can also apply a filter setting like :
notdiscord

If you do it like this, you have to remember everytime you post, to use or not.
So i prefer the first method

I just discovered your wonderful site but I have a question, what dimensions do the images you use in your example have? Thank you very much

You can use whatever you like, it will auto scale it.

no matter how i try, i never got a feed on my startup page, it always says Failed to load.
Here is what i use: sets activitypubFeed RPQC@fivem.social
Here is the result. … i even tried with mastodon.social

And yes the profile exists: Roleplay Québec (RPQC) (@RPQC@fivem.social) - FiveM SociaL

Im having a problem with it actually displaying on my fivem search

Hello. Have you found a solution to the problem yet?

No, Fivesocial does not reply on discord or here, and mastodon seems to have blocked fivem.
Cfx needs to pull their heads out of their asses and stop using stupid shit like Fivesocial and Zap-hosting and start doing this shit themselves. They make millions every year, they have no excuses.

Fivesocial is not associated or partnered with FiveM, it’s just a community hosted Mastodon instance.

Only mstdn.social, there are 100s of other instances you can use.

You misspelled activitypubFeed.

It seems you removed the it, so I can’t check why it doesn’t work. But I checked other servers on Fivesocial and their feed embeds fine on the server page.

i did put it back, if you could check and tell me what i did wrong that would be amazing.

And yes, mastodon can still block stuff on instances, you never control it 100%.

Your account is returned as “Service” which seems to be rejected by the FiveM client, could you please try removing the “Automated” setting off your account and retrying after a bit?

I changed it about 20mins ago, and its still doing the same

Did you change it on the correct instance? It still shows on https://mastodon.social/@RPQC which is the one you’re currently using on your server.

yes, this is the line im using: sets activitypubFeed RPQC@fivem.social
This is my server btw: Cfx.re Server List

It updated now, and your feed shows on the server page.

Holy poop! Thanks a lot! I had no idea that Automation was on, and a problem.
I love you.

I’ve compiled a list of common mistakes because I was able to fix the feed myself:

  • Correct form: “sets activitypubFeed storyroleplay@fivem.social” - without @ at the beginning, with the correct spelling of activitypubFeed
  • Your nickname on Fivem.Social must be completely lowercase
  • Login must be registered on Fivem.social, not Mastodon

Also, the account cannot be an ‘‘Automated’’ one. That was my fault
