Was thinking of getting this to host my fivem server on it do you think either of these will be more than enough or do I need a different one to support upto 64 players, a discord bot, website! Or should I get a different one if so please link me. I don’t want paid single hosting game servers I like to setup my own servers.
I personally reccomend using linode.com. Their VPS prices are great for performance, but you need a little bit of linux knowledge. Linux doesn’t use as many resources as Windows so its the better option if you can. I used linode for over a year or two with no issues whatsoever.
To add to the topic, as far as I read it’s recommended to host on a Windows Server instead of Linux, reason being that, among all other things, troubleshooting complex server issues on Linux is almost impossible. Not to mention that you need to jump through several hoops and have a fair deal of knowledge of Linux to even get the thing working in the first place.
As a general rule of thumb for server hosts, no less than 2 actual CPU cores, no less than 3.0GHz and ~8 GBs of RAM should be able to easily handle a single server for most use cases as long as that machine is not used for anything else (like hosting a website etc)
