For obvious security reasons, we are attempting to locate the players.json file (probably to change the default name to help secure our player’s IP addresses and other obvious security issues) however we are not having any luck whatsoever. Can anyone assist with being able to change the file name (or where players.json is located)?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

What kind of obvious security issues are you even talking about?
We have several large Twitch streamers that frequent our servers often, and IP addresses are clearly displayed and public for anyone that knows how to access a simple link.
Then remove it? Or do not save a .json of their ip? Also how would we know the location if you didnt tell us what you use to save this data?
They want to remove or rename it, but they cannot find it in the server directory.

Glad someone can read LOL

He just restated what you said… but you are still missing a key detail…
That’s currently not possible, neither are these: “obvious security risks”
Its been done before, trust me - just because you aren’t aware on the steps to do it (and thats okay because neither are we!) doesn’t mean its impossible. Ive seen it done before, specifically SOE has done this and our interests in doing this are for the same reason - to protect our users against DDoS’es…
Think of it like this, if I knew where my favorite (or not so favorite) streamer was on, and accessed the link (without any trouble) I can obtain his IP and just constantly DDoS him/her.
In fact, Streamers a lot of times (within the top 15) often check for these files to make sure their IP is masked.
Okay, so if nobody knows where the players.json location is, does anyone here know how to disable IP logging?
I asked the devs about this already. They didnt seem all that bothered.
We currently have a semi working fix to hide the IP from public, and we are planning to release it when its fully functional.
For example it shows
{
“name”: “John Doe”,
“identifiers”: [
“steam:00000000000000”
],
“endpoint”: “Protected”,
“ping”: 1,
“id”: 1
}
This is the working part how ever there are more “simple links” which we are trying to fix.

Let me know when you have that functional, I would be [REMOVED].
It’s not a file in the server directory otherwise you could easily find it. And stop being so arrogant.
Any idea on how to hide or disable this yet…?
@AspireHD Any luck?
As i said, we managed to do half. But the other is being tricky. Im sure we can get over it with more time. (hopefully)
How goes your progress on this?
Did you even see the latest commits ._.
@Kanersps I am pretty sure @Floppy_Pancakes is checking with this guy as he stated he was working on a solution.
PS - Floppy, ily.
yes. I did. I’m looking for a solution for everyone still on cfx. It’s still a security issue, so that’s why I’m looking into it.

Or use fxserver and actually use something that’s being updated.
