TL;DR below, bolded
My best friend has gotten really into watching Summit’s streams playing on Nopixel “cops and robbers” RP servers. She’s really excited about getting onto an RP server and wants me to play with her and help her find a server. Personally I had never heard of FiveM until she asked me to download it, and I still don’t even know what Nopixel even is, aside from the fact that they apparently have a backlog of 4,000 applications to join their server(s).
We’re totally in over our heads; there’s so many servers and all the seemingly “good” ones have whitelists (understandably) and are likely always full. We’ve never RP’d before, though she’s been getting a lot of inspiration from streams I imagine and I used to watch a lot of LSPDFR videos. We’ve never played modded GTA before. We’re probably going to just join a random open server at some point just to get even the vaguest idea of what to expect but we’d really like to find a server that we can keep coming back to and get to know the people on it.
My friend in particular will probably have trouble finding a server that won’t give her shit:
- She’s a girl. This alone will get cringy “ironic” OMG A GURL comments or much worse.
- She’s mute. In practice this really just means she “doesn’t have a mic” which I’ll ask her to put on whitelist applications (to hopefully avoid stupid comments/questions) – a lot of RP servers probably require joining voice chat. She does have a Discord text-to-speech bot she likes to use though.
- She’s in Europe and I’m in the US, so one of us will likely have terrible ping issues.
Basically, we’d like to join an RP server that has friendly, helpful, intelligent, patient people; doesn’t tolerate trolls/griefers/bigots/assholes; isn’t jam-packed or a ghost town all the time; and is willing to accommodate a mute.* It’d also be nice to have modded clothing options and modded cars. We don’t necessarily need info on specific servers to join, even some direction on where and how to start looking would be helpful, as well as what to generally expect from the whitelisting process.
Thank you!
* fyi: as a “mute” she is literally unable to speak; her vocal chords were permanently damaged in an accident.
