im trying to upload all the data and resources of my fivem server to private github so i can download it and use it in another host as i plan to leave my current host. I ant figure out how to uplaod my whole server. does anyone know?
Have you tried making it into a zip folder?
i have and every time i do i test with trying to download it first and always end up with a corrupt file which i think is because stupid thing keeps changing the names of things
Maybe try google drive instead?
Hello SHACOLATEKISSES,
What do you mean with all the data and resources?
Please only save the resources and the CFG… NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER the Artifact or the server data. You never need a backup or version control of the Artifact. In case you rebuild the server you ALWAYS download the latest Artifact for your OS.
But other debate do you need a version control or a pure backup? If you want to use version control you use Git with a remote repository on GitHub if you just want a backup you use FileHosting services like Google Drive, Mega etc. there you can also compress all files to save space. Uploading a compressed file (.zip) to GitHub is not the purpose of GitHub.
i mean my scripts and sql… i dont mind getting new atifacts just dont wanna throw away moneths of work having to reconfig everything that was broken when i got it. i was trying to do it via git but it keeps trying to make me do 1 at a time when i have 93k files
and i cant use google drive. everytime i do it comes out corrupt i thyink because it has issues with file names
