After watching a good amount of GTARP streams and videos, I’ve become very interested in wanting to give it a shot, especially with my past experiences on Arma 3 RP servers. Some of the streams I’ve seen I noticed that their game looked different from the others I’ve seen on other streams and I’m pretty sure they’re using some sort of graphical mod like NaturalVision or Redux or something. To get straight to the point; I’ve seen some videos benchmarking some of those mods with PCs that have similar specs to mine, however they were only benchmarked in singleplayer, my question is, would going on a server with that kind of mod give me different performance or would it be similar to singleplayer?

This can vary from server to server. It really depends on what the server you are playing on has loaded as additional resources. Servers that have a lot of custom vehicles or custom buildings may cause texture loss more frequently with visual mods. From my experience, if you already have issues with the normal gta:o or singleplayer don’t bother with visual mods, if you don’t and get good framerates 60+ in intensive situations, then go for it. However, since the servers have more than the regular gta:o experience expect lower fps in most situations. It will also depend on the server as well if they have optimized their maps properly.
All in all if you have a gtx 1060 6gb or better with a intel quad core faster than 4.5ghz, and 16gb of ram, you’ll be just fine. If you have any texture loss, just reduce the graphics settings a bit.
I also recommend making your draw distances as low as possible for best performance/least issues.
Thanks for the reply, and yeah I believe I’m more than capable of running any of those graphic mods. I’m on a GTX 1660 Ti 6GB, Intel Core i5 6500, 16GB DDR4 2400mhz Ram. Last time I played GTA was a while ago with some slightly different specs (might have been just my GPU) but I still was able to get over 60fps all the time, even during intense situations. The PCs in those videos benchmarking those mods were very similar to mine. I was just worried if playing in multiplayer would make a huge difference.
The biggest deciding factor will be if the servers you play on have additional buildings and if they do have they been optimized. Same with additional cars.
Over all though it sounds like you’ll be just fine, I’ve used the Terrov series for over a year and it’s worked pretty well. As far as which mod you want to install, that’s up to your personal preference. Just try some out and keep the one you like best. I don’t recommend installing any retextures client side though. That will probably cause more issues then benefits.
What do you mean by installing client side retextures? Also if you have any experience with them, what RP servers would you recommend? I know that NoPixel is pretty popular but you have to put in a donator application. I’m mostly just looking for good a whitelisted server with enforced RP.
