I’ve been a team member on several server teams, I’ve often talked to owners of large servers and I’ve worked as a developer for some large script producers myself. At the same time, however, I am also a player who spends far too much time in Fivem and a student who often learns too little, not least because of Gta RP.
Again and again I see players or experience it myself who spend 12 hours or more a day playing role-playing games in Fivem. At the same time, there are other games (such as Minecraft for me) that are much more fun for me in shorter periods of time and also trigger more emotions and reactions (such as adrenaline or happiness hormones).
I am therefore asking myself the following questions and would be very happy if one or the other person would join the discussion in the topic.
Is it a problem that people are sometimes in the RP for multiple hours a day for weeks on end and how many hours and for how long does it become a problem?
Is it the responsibility of the server owners and developers to make sure that players don’t make Fivem their only activity during the day, apart from sleeping and eating?
What game mechanics can developers develop and what measures can server owners take to reduce overconsumption and create a healthier experience for their players?
I am looking forward to your opinions and hope to find a solution how players can play Fivem in a healthy form.
So, the goal is to make the game less fun so people leave? Imagine Rockstar coding in “Take a walk, touch some grass” pop-ups every few hours. The real-life mechanic here is called self-control.
Neither the servers nor Rockstar benefit from their players spending more hours in the game. It would therefore be in their interest, or at least their moral responsibility, to take measures against overconsumption. China, for example, has an interesting system that could also be implemented by servers:
Are you really arguing for the federal government to control how people can interact with games? That’s the most dystopian dictatorship thing I’ve read in a long time.
Also, how does people playing more of someone’s game harm that company. That’s the entire goal of companies, for people to play their games more than other people’s game.
This is not something you nor any private company should control. Freedom is nice, I don’t need others telling me how to live. Addictions are also real but there are resources available for that.
