Important parts

What is the issue you’re having?
Everything was fine before for the whole time I’ve been using Fivem (years) and always in fullscreen exclusive mode since I can definitely feel the better performance and how much smoother it is for me but recently one day I tabbed out of the game and when I came back it was in window mode and I could see the title bar. Usually when I tab out it minimizes and when I tab back into Fivem it goes right back into fullscreen without any issues. When I go into the settings to to change it back into fullscreen exclusive once I save it for some reason it doesn’t stick and still asks me if I want to apply changes and each time I agree it keeps asking me the same thing and doesn’t go away. I don’t know if this has anything to do with a recent Fivem update or not but it’s been so frustrating, please help!

What are you trying to do?
Use fullscreen (exclusive) mode and not have it revert to windowed when tabbing out.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?
I’ve already tried reinstalling fivem multiple times and even deleted the citizenfx folder from appdata. This happens both in release version and canary so tried both.

I have the same issue. Tried reinstalling fivem, tried deleting gta5_settings.xml. I do not know what to do anymore. Used to only happen in canary yesterday, but today its happening on release too.

Yep same exact thing here, was having the issue on the canary build a few days ago so I switched back to the release build where it worked and now I’m having the same problem today where it reverts to windowed on alt tab

Alright so, it looks like now if you use Canary release It doesn’t revert you into windowed mode instantly when you tab out. Release version still has the same issues as before. My guess it that whatever change that caused this originally in canary was pushed to release which is why they both had that problem and now they might have fixed it in canary again.

how do u change to canary or what is that?
or do we just wait for nxt update?

To switch Fivem to Canary you have to open Fivem and then go into the settings in the top right hand corner and you’ll see a setting to change from Release to Fivem. This does fix Fivem from reverting to Windowed mode when you tab out but if your using Fullscreen Exclusive I’ve noticed that for some reason if you tab out and wait a few minutes to reopen the Fivem window everything is just black and frozen when you do. Sometimes it will unfreeze and let you continue but you might have to restart Fivem sometimes as well. Wondering if anyone else is also having this problem?

Either way this “Fullscreen” issue seems to be widespread with tons of people reporting the same problem so I’m certain they know and are working on fixing it and I hope this will be resolved soon.
