Hi there had a quick question was wondering if i needed to have the game gta 5 installed on the dedicated server in order to have five m server work or is it just configs needed to be setup for server stuff

gotcha so its just mostly setting up configs and files for the server the server doesnt need the game in general it does its things without it.

I hope you didn’t rent a dedicated server just for FiveM. You should first get to know how to run a server locally and set it up. Otherwise it’s a waste of money if you don’t even know how it works.

dedicated server is for teamspeak and five m servers and i prefer not to run a server locally thanks for the help though

I never said you should actually run your server in production locally.

What you should do, is first learn:

  1. How to setup a FiveM server
  2. How to install resources
  3. How to create your own resource
  4. How to script your own resource
  5. And so on

If you are going to spend a lot of money on something, you should know what you do with it. If you come in here asking questions like the one you asked, that concerns me and I want to protect you against spending money that you could spend elsewhere.

This is usually how anyone that has had a successful server approaches this:

  1. Setup server locally
  2. Create/install resources locally
  3. Once tested and satisfied, rent server and copy over resources

Thank you for your consider but it was just a simple question of needing the game to be on the server that is it we have our files, scripts, and framework all ready and being worked on and tested.

My current situation is that i want to host a server on fiveM when im ready.

I would like to setup and get it running with all the mods/scripts that i want locally then when i feel its ready for the live phase rent a server and make it public.

Is it as simple as moving all my resources over to the new server/ setting up FiveM and enabling port forward ?

Pretty much yea! You may also have to setup a database of you use that but it sounds like you have a good idea of what you should do :slight_smile:
