[feat request] addlivery slots to vanilla cars

Not sure if there’s something documented I may have missed, I am fully aware the textures may be replaced but what I’m requesting is a way to stream in additional vanilla vehicle liveries without replacements and without the need to restream in the entire car. Ie see the vanilla works pack, I’d rather stream in extra liveries to players vs restreaming in 100 cars and so on. If this is in the wrong place my bad, I’ve asked a few car “devs” about this and get the same result of restreaming the whole model and it’s other parts backin.

Can you specify how liveries normally work, or link a gta5-mods vehicle that has this type of liveries in livery slots so we can test any such thing?

its excessive as far as all thats included and im aware some are replacements, but what im getting at is adding the additional slots in and streaming them in for it to allow them to be added. in here theres about 12 liveries for the comet3 as an example.

heres the liveries for vanilla works

this one for example does a replacement livery, and although it would work to replace im looking to just add some simple low res extras to a few vanilla cars. Pfister Comet Retro Custom "Nakamura Special" Livery - GTA5-Mods.com

Yeah- I’m just reminded of how the game has two different livery systems: one with .yft files with a special material and a dedicated .ytd, and one with apparently entries in the main .ytd, and both of them would probably need a different way to add additional overrides ‘cleanly’.

Since someone else (or was it you?) asked some livery-related question recently as well I thought it might be simple enough to add some functionality for this especially if it’s the non-.yft type sometime soon.

I did ask about it in the help page, stalked a few car devs on twitch and asked just to confirm as well lol. there’s so many cars in the game as it is and the idea of so many people streaming in either retextured cars (regardless of livery slots) or just so many cars in general has always baffled me. It would be cool to see the extra options for sure . Thanks for the reply

This specific type seen in ‘VWELP’ seems to actually be the .yft variant, are the slots for these preassigned or what are you trying to do (eg what do you mean by ‘restream’?)- in fact, are there any vehicles of the other type you’re expecting to modify as well?

To clarify im not very experienced with the car mods, but the slots are pre assigned ie comet3 has sayyyy 7 livery slots ( throwing random guesses cuz haven’t looked in a few days) I can override them using a car with the expanded slots like a replacement car normally likes forcing other clients to download the whole thing. But being able to just stream the yfts in to expand the slots from 7 to say 9 and have 2 additional livery’s for the car that are low res would be superior to having other clients load the modified “replacement” car to have the 2 slots. Ideally id do it for most of what’s in the vanilla works pack because lore friendly + not overly large textures. I think the yft would be easy to use for people to work with like a template but the non-.yft type would be good as well just be some converting. — Thank you bubble for being here for my rambling about things I hardly understand
