Early-exit Trap

What is the issue you’re having?

When I launch FiveM, it will load up and then it’ll crash with the error “early-exit trap” after about 40 seconds of being on the home screen of FiveM.

What have you tried already to fix the issue?

I’ve tried:

  • Clearing cached data in FiveM
  • Clearing Cached data in Rockstar launcher
  • Reinstalled FiveM
  • Reinstalled GTA V Legacy
  • Updated my GPU drivers

What server did you get this issue on?

Haven’t entered a server

Windows version

Windows 11 26200.8457

System specifications

Ryzen 7 5700x3d
RTX 3060 12gb
48gb DDR4 RAM

Additional comments

FiveM worked before, maybe about a month ago I’d say? But now it won’t.
I can try to get into a server within those 40~ seconds before it crashes, but then it’ll crash while trying to load a server with a different crash error which is random each time. Ultimately I believe that this early-exit trap is the root of the problem (but I may be wrong).

Do a deep scan of your machine with Malwarebytes https://www.malwarebytes.com/. Make sure you actually do a deep scan. Next to the “Scan” option you will have 3 dots click on them and click advance.

Yeah, I’ve ran a deep scan and it didn’t find any malware or anything. Still having the same issue

How long did the scan take you? Make sure you did a deep scan.

Were you able to play normally before or is this your first time playing FiveM and this is happening?

I’m 100% certain it was a deep scan, it took several hours.

And yes I was able to play normally before this, this is not my first time playing FiveM, been playing FiveM for several years, never had this issue before.

Did you install any “weird” software to your PC? Also are you using any mods? Early exit trap is triggered by the anticheat.

Not to my recollection, I don’t install “weird” stuff or any of that. The most recent thing I’ve installed was SignalRGB, but closing that process didn’t fix the issue. The only thing related to cheats/mods that I have on my pc is Wand (formerly known as WeMod) and I don’t have that running or anything.

As I mentioned, I have reinstalled both GTA V Legacy and FiveM and made sure their data directory was wiped.

I am also experiencing these issues. I played FiveM this morning, tried loading it up again this evening and could not even get past boot.

Hello,
There’s currently a new change to the Steam Overlay on the Steam Beta branch, which is causing Early-exit traps.

Either close Steam fully (Steam → Exit, top left) or remove the Client Beta Participation (Steam → Settings → Interface) and restart Steam

Note that this applies regardless of it you own GTA V on Steam, because FiveM always tries to load the Steam Overlay

I have the same issue, but I use the rockstar Edition

It doesn’t matter which launcher you own GTA V on. The problem is coming from the Steam Overlay trying to load into FiveM if Steam is open at all.

Encountering this error today. Is there any way to turn off the beat thing? cause im in a beta but it wont let me exit beta participation

After 12 hours of trying, I can say, this finallly worked. Thank you and God bless

Mine too.

Thanks for the help! I was stuck on this for several hours lol. Fucking Steam…

Same. Having this issue as of the morning of 6/5/26.

-Reinstalled GTA V entirely, multiple times, also verified multiple times.

- Still having exittrap issues or a problem with rpf.2 / audio game code not being read properly. Restart PC hard restart as well.

-Deleted everything including rockstar games launcher. Now redownloaded GTA V Legacy .exe, and

-now reinstalling Rockstar games launcher.

I will try the steam beta client change right after this.

This is the solution, thank you very much.
It doesn’t matter if you have it downloaded from Epic Games; the problem is the Steam beta.

:goat: Worked for me !!
