I recently bought a VPS to host my servers on and ended up having some issues with FiveM. I feel like this could be connected with the recent updates to FiveM and my server…
My server will have people in it running fine, then boom, in bright red text in the top left cornor Everyone will get “Connection Interrupted”
I’ve also noticed around the time this starts happening in the F8 console…
Another thing that happens is that there are tons of hitch warnings in the server cmd. none of them go over 200 ms so I never really thought of it as major. I looked though the resource monitor in-game and I didn’t really see anything standing out…
Any and all help is very much appreciated! Thanks, Have A Great Day!

I am having this issue as well on my testing server never seen it before, hope it’s nothing on our end
If you’re having this, you were having issues before already. This only replaces the “connection timed out” thing, making it possible to be recovered from.
Of course, you people only see any change as an issue, even if it’s a fix for another “issue”…
Based on fact I’m going to disregard what you’re saying. Yes, if they wait long enough they get connected back to my server, but it’s always in a split session. Split sessions never really happened on my server mid game… Especially when there are 5+ people in the server. Either way this would’ve been too much of an inconvenience for people to play on my server to begin with… Believe me, If this was a previous issue the people in my server would’ve told me. If it was a time out every few hours or so, I would understand… But people are timing out within minutes of being in my server, which once again never happened until I updated the server.
I do appreciate the help
I am with 16bitshooter on this one. Im getting RAMPENT ‘connection interruped’ where as before i would have known as the server is ALWAYS full. NOW its happening mid game like you said. Never happened before the update.
After experimenting some on a fresh test server I think it might have something to do with either a ton of resources (200+) or just one resource in general causing it… You wanna DM me a list of yours so I can compare and do some more testing? Just take your server.cfg resource list and send it, if you can… Thanks for the reply!
I hate to be “That guy” but honestly seriously curious here how did you open the resource monitor? That would be super useful and I’ve not yet figured out how to open it up would appreciate it
@KrizFrost Command is resmon and bool to toggle so 1 = on, 0 = off

You’re probably hitting some sort of unrelated issue, then. The ‘connection interrupted’ bit did not change any existing system properties.
Odd - there’s also mitigation for those (HS_MISMATCH in client logs, usually), so something has to be off with some resource for that to not work at all.
Yeah, I’m going to be doing a bit of testing to attempt to see if a specific resource is causing it. If I find anything I’ll be back here to let everyone know. Most of my “plugin” related resources are from these forums, So I imagine there are way more than just me having this issue…
After some short testing I’ve determined that a mass ammount of streaming (vehicles) can cause the issue. (9+GB of them to be exact) I haven’t checked the “plugin” resources yet…
EDIT; After trying out some “plugin” resources we went on for a while without the thing happening, but then it popped up for a split second. After it went away we got put in a split session and then my friend got disconnected from the session provider…
EDIT 2; Streaming a few vehicles does not seem to cause any problems…
EDIT 3; After going through my vehicles to see if it was just 1 breaking things i spawned an Aston Martin and it happened. ‘Connection Interrupted’ was stuck on my screen and I never ended uip reconnecting. I checked the console for anything and nothing really looked out of the ordinary… One thing that did catch my eye is that it took over 10k msec for some of the ast files to download… Could this be whats causing the issue?
EDIT 4; (editing all these so the replies aren’t a mile long lol) After having my friends spawn a car we established works, I spawned a new one that hasn’t been spawned yet. After spawning a getting into the car it happened again. This time I got disconnected from the session provider. Here is what was going on in the console right as this happened…
This repeated as so until I lost connection to the session provider…
Ah. Do either the server’s upstream bandwidth or the players’ downstream bandwidth seem “low” at all, especially compared with one another?
This has been documented as a common cause for timeouts, however since multiple concurrent downloads are allowed and bandwidth estimation algorithms are kind-of “eh” there’s not really an easy fix to guarantee that bandwidth remains available for game subsystem traffic even when assets are being downloaded at maximum speed.
I appreciate the help, I’m not exactly sure how to check in on what you’re asking. Would that be a problem with my VPS or is it just something to do with the server being based in Germany?
Basically - compare the ‘upload’ part of a speedtest on the server (if using Linux, there’s a tool called ‘speedtest-cli’ to do this without a browser) and the ‘download’ part on one or two clients that are affected.
No need to interpret the values, just show them here - there’s 2 scenarios that this could happen with:
- Client has really low downstream speed, server saturates bandwidth of client easily with HTTP asset downloads, so that no game data can be received anymore.
- Clients have fairly high downstream speed, server however only gets 100-400 Mbit/s of upstream, server bandwidth gets saturated by clients attempting to download at full speed, so that no game data can be sent in time anymore.
Sorry for my lack of understanding, but I’ve done a speed test on my VPS and on my home connection. Not exactly sure what you mean’t by clients that are affected. I interpreted that as people that connect to my servers.

(I’ve not restarted my router, Usually my down is about 120. Up is always around the same.)

EDIT: I have 10 days left on my VPS… Would you say it would be better for me to buy a FiveM server and host it in the US? Would I have the same issues if I bought only the server?
Just to update, I’ve purchased a Zap Gameserver and have had 0 connections issues! The one I bought is in Dallas, TX and the VPS I was having the issue with is in Germany. I’ve been on servers that are in Germany and not had an issue, so I’m not exactly sure why my VPS was having issues. Either way getting the gameserver fixed my problem! Another + is that the gameserver is also cheaper than the VPS. The only downside to letting the VPS go is that I won’t be able to have a webserver anymore. Either way Thanks for all the help, but I’ve fixed my specific problem…
To clarify! The VPS in Germany isn’t giving anyone in the US a good connection. If I was in Europe I most likely wouldn’t have had this issue. To fix, I bought a gameserver from Zap-Hosting and transferred 11GB worth of resources over from the VPS.
