Concept vehicles and tos

Hi all, hope you all had an fantastic Christmas and new year.

I wanted to touch on this topic about real-life vehicles vs concept vehicles,

We’ll take a bmw for an example here, so let say we make some cosmetic chances to the vehicles and maybe some wild widebody kit or something, if such model was debadged and considered an concept vehicle, since this variation isnt officially sold, would we still be forbidden from using such model?

I’ve seen many small indie games do this and im sure R* are also doing something similar, like you can clearly see the banshee is a dodge viper and the dominator is clearly an mustang or something.

I’m just trying to get an more clear answer on what acceptable and what pushing the luck etc

I don’t think anyone will formally respond to your question because it involves borderline legal issues. If you’re afraid, don’t do it. If you’re not afraid, be prepared to face the consequences.

Thanks for the reply, and yeah I come to conclusion, so we decided to avoid the legal issues etc

A stolen asset is a stolen asset. These developers think they can just grab stuff from another video game, remove the badges and/or modify it by 20%, and then call that abiding by TOS. This is what most vehicle developers think and are telling everyone and are still trying to sell these assets and still are getting away with it somehow. Do not listen to them. You will be wasting your money and get hit with TOS. Everyone just needs to wait for the developers to create their own assets. It will take time. They are slowly popping up though, keep an eye out. They are out there.

There’s been enforcement on vehicle “developers” and other similar copyright/IP infringing content, if you can find their Tebex pages you’ll see quite a few have been slowly clearing out their infringing content from Tebex.

Additionally, Tebex seems to be taking and processing reports from users through their site:

Just include evidence, links to real-world vehicles, etc. As far as I’m aware, the way it works is vehicles/ToS-related issues on releases are collected then reported to Tebex (if found to violate IP laws/ToS), and then actioned by Tebex.
