Good day,

I am new to this community and I want to share my opinion regarding one of the most important aspects of FiveM: commercial use.

I assume you all know that FiveM does not allow making a profit out of servers. Well, I actually found out today, when I finally decided to install GTA V, and to start learning the FiveM C# API, with the idea of porting my SA-MP game mode to FiveM. Now I changed my mind.

There is nothing inherently bad or wrong with this model, however, I’m sure that FiveM would be a lot more popular if commercial use were allowed. Think about someone who wishes to start a gaming business: knowing that he will make a profit (e.g. selling digital currency and items), he will be ready to invest in his game mode; he could hire developers and web designers, buy advertisements, and bring LOTS of new players to FiveM.

This is my honest opinion. Let me know what is yours.

There’s a thin line already being walked on with FiveM as it’s not technically “legal” since it breaks T2’s/Rockstars TOS. Allowing such would just piss T2 off even more and they’d be more likely to try to take legal action against the Collective. This has happen before with a previous developer, and it’s not something they really want to happen again. This is why FiveM has the “no profit allowed” in the TOS.

Of course, they are currently working on a commerce for FiveM, though, which would allow in-game purchases.
