CFX Community Must Stand Against Fake Players

Hey everyone,

I don’t usually post here, but this issue has been bothering me for a while, and I feel like it needs to be discussed. There are a lot of servers on FiveM that fake their player count by using bots, and honestly, it’s getting out of hand. It’s unfair to legit servers that are actually working hard to build a real community.

The worst part? CFX support seems to completely ignore the issue. People have been submitting tickets about this for months, and either they get no response, or they receive some generic reply that doesn’t actually do anything. Meanwhile, these servers keep faking their numbers, getting more visibility, and taking advantage of the system without any consequences.

I don’t get why CFX isn’t addressing this. It’s not like it’s hard to detect when a server suddenly has 500 players but zero actual activity. If they really cared about keeping things fair, they’d implement better detection and take action against these servers.

Has anyone here actually had success getting CFX to do something about this? Or are we all just wasting our time reporting it? Let me know your thoughts.

Man, I’ve got my own way of catching fake servers, no matter what resources they’re using or what kind of tricks they pull. I can tell 100% when a server is running bots, and I even sent two reports to CFX support with solid proof.

Guess what happened? I waited over two months, and in the end, they just slapped a “Solved” label on my ticket and did absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, the servers I reported? Still running bots like nothing happened.

At this point, reporting this stuff feels like a complete waste of time. If CFX isn’t gonna do anything even when you hand them clear evidence on a silver platter, then seriously, what’s even the point of having a support system?

Hi @HitmanQ8,

Fivem community should support that topic, I’m watching and following now and in my guess everyone in community should direct this topic to let cfx hear our voices.

Sincerely,
Vidarr

This is what we must do, Vidarr. The CFX community must stand together to combat this cheating and destruction

We need to clarify our issue as server owners and supporters of fair competition.

Most of those in the Top 50 have artificially boosted their servers with fake players, and they don’t t truly deserve their place there.

If you ignore this and don’t t support us, you’ll always find yourself at the bottom because of cheating and fake player boosting

I feel like there are bigger fish to fry. So a server pays to falsely increase their player count but does actually make people play their server? No. Because they join, see no one on and then leave. So the argument that it’s severely harming other servers doesn’t hold much water. This has been brought up many times both on the forums and in the discord though.

Sure, Cfx should probably do something but is it the priority? I would argue not.

How is this not a priority? There are people trying to grow their FiveM servers and reach the top of the server list, but they can’t because of this unfair advantage.

Imagine your server gets 200-250 real players joining, but a competing server gets 150-200 real players and then adds 100 fake players on top of that.

When people check the server list, they see that server ranked higher than yours, so they’re more likely to join it. When they do, they find a decent number of real players and interaction, making it seem active - but in reality, it’s s only because of 150-200 real players, while the rest are fake.

Meanwhile, your server, which actually has more real players, appears lower on the list, losing potential new players just because someone cheated their way up.

Some server owners pay for boosts, work hard with developers, and put effort into creating the best gaming experience. Then, someone who doesn’t care about fairness comes in, ruins all your hard work, and ranks above you on the server list, attracting even more players just because they appear higher!

How is that not a priority?

I guess you didn’t read my post before replying. I’d rather them enhance enforcement of actual TOS violations like branded vehicles, ripped assets and code of conduct violations that actually do harm people. Being at the top is not the end all be all of creating a good server that people join.

I think the problem is not just with CFX; even its community shows no engagement on the topic. This is a sign that the community is satisfied with what’s happening.

We can’t do anything about it—enjoy!

Is it really that big of a problem? I mean realistically, why would servers that average 150-200 real players feel the need to bot?

I don’t “feel” it, I can detect any server that boosts itself with bots. I know servers with a real daily player count of 200+, yet they add 100+ bots to always stay on the top list.

Do you see this as fair competition?

Do you think this is a minor issue? When server owners deceive players who know nothing and just want to play?

ahh we innocent people (context;https://fivem.team/)

At least NTA was here—we were able to see some progress with Cfx…
She was one of us, a part of the community.

Now, it’s a complete black hole. I’m not sure if anyone even knows what the next update will be or when the current issues will be fixed.
When will R* add proper RedM documentation instead of just redirecting to FiveM docs?

Maybe no one can explain why RegisterKeyMapping doesn’t exist on RedM or why we can’t change player cores with something similar to the StatSetInt function in FiveM…

But I still have hope for the future. This project was built by the community, and I’m certain that R* or any company wouldn’t be able to just shut it down.

And let’s be honest—FiveM is more valuable and profitable for R* than GTA V itself.
They can’t afford to risk that much revenue. If FiveM were to shut down, something even better would rise from its ashes.

They don’t care about FiveM. RedM even more so. They bought it and that’s the end of it for them. Make maximum profit until GTA 6 arrives. I look back sadly on 2018/2019/2020. It’s a shame what happened to this great project.

In my guess when gta 6 relased some one like NTA, will recreate whole community from ashes.
R* not capable to do anything good with no profit expectations.

I got very excited when redm escrow integration released but now facing with issues no proper documentation, the natives are not exists on redm even they are already documented.

I wish we still have @nta

Edit: This modding ecosystem is too valuable to be left in the hands of anyone outside the community itself…

Legend has it NTA still lurks the forums, searching for the perfect meme post to react to.

But also, I think everyone here’s missing an important point. One I will share in the form of a short story:

I used to play a game called Runescape. It's like minecraft required an actual imagination and zero social life to enjoy. Anyways, they had a huuuge problem with bots. Bots were inflating the in-game economy and stealing resources from real players. This was a big deal because it turns out, as you would believe, items and accounts sold for real world money. So what happened? The Runescape team (jagex) decided to 'take a stand' against the botting efforts by banning all of the bots they were able to detect. All was swell until about a season or so later, the bots returned back...and even MORE of them. So jagex reloaded its ban hammer, struck again, and celebrated another short lived victory. Then the cycle repeated. and still repeats on to this very day

What happened:
Well as it turns out, after these accounts got banned, the botters didn’t just give up. In fact, they saw it as a challenge to overcome and simply, tried again.

What’s ur point wetter42?
While botting IS in fact a serious problem, the idea that dealing with bots as a “one and done” action doesn’t acknowledge reality…There’s no one swift action, no wave of the wand, that will make all bots disappear. And in fact taking action against them will only start the next generation of anti-anti-bots, and anti-anti-anti-bots and so on and so forth.

This isn’t an excuse to not take action, but it’s important to at least recognize that botting is a delicate situation that goes a bit deeper than “Bad man make bot, so bot must go away.”

There’s a level of understanding both behind the value the game offers to players, and the motivation behind botting that is needed before you could even BEGIN to tackle the botting problem.

Only THEN can you work to implement a solution that DISCOURAGES botting / makes it pointless / useless / valueless…

Hi everyone,

We are aware of services offering to artificially inflate the player count of individual servers.

Throughout 2024, we have been taking remediation steps to hinder the impact of fake players on the platform.

While these efforts were able to temporarily disrupt the operations of these services, the current design of our client authentication made it difficult to put a definitive stop to this cat & mouse game. Alongside these efforts, we decided that a long-term solution would be to refactor large portions of our game client authentication service.

To avoid affecting the experience of legitimate players, we started the phased rollout of this refactor to our user base two weeks ago. We’ll keep expanding it step by step until we’re confident it can be deployed to everyone.

Thank you for your efforts, and we wish you success in this step.

We have multiple ways to detect them and reveal the real player count, including identifying bot/fake players.

We have submitted several reports against certain servers with evidence, and you can review them. We will provide you with all the details and methods through the tickets.

We would like you to continue taking steps to limit the impact of fake players and also penalize the servers that have artificially inflated their player count.

We truly appreciate your efforts.

Next step is to either rework the upvote system or fix it in its current state. Tired of seeing servers with $50k in upvotes falsely displayed. It makes the servers like mine legitimately paying for upvotes feel like we’re wasting our money.

RuneScape taught us everything. Literally.

Hopefully this gets solved soon, very sad it’s inflated even more.
