No antivirus. Windows antivirus isn’t running.
Did you start Rockstar Games Launcher not as admin? - Yes (Rockstar Launcher doesn’t like to open separately from Steam. Screenshot)
Ran RedM.exe as Administrator. Doesn’t work.
Edit: I got it to work, but not without having to do something special. Browse to your game folder and run PlayRDR2.exe instead. Once that launcher is open, try to run RedM again while the launcher is open.
RedM needs to try launching PlayRDR2.exe for Steam users, not RDR2.exe. This is a bug.
Yeah that’s what I did. And my social club accoun’t doesnt own GTA V. I own both games through Steam.
The account is linked to my Steam account(Screenshot of Rockstar account page). Screenshot of Steam library. I’m not using other rockstar or steam accounts. That’s the account that I use to play the game with online through Steam. RDR Online works fine. I purchased the game on Steam the day of Steam release. FiveM seems to work fine. I’ve never bought a game through Rockstar directly.
Here’s some other helpful info -
I have to run RDR 2 through Steam. It won’t work if I try to run the launcher directly or I get the launcher error. It’s been that way since the day I purchased it through Steam. I don’t know if there’s some sort of work around or what.
That’s why I made this post. RedM doesn’t work with the Steam version of the game.
Neither are being ‘launched’ by RedM. It gets the current state from the running MTL instance. That R* makes third-party digital distribution platforms work in a crappy way has nothing to do with what order MTL is launched in.
A more likely fix would be directly integrating with /autologinsteam and /autologinepic endpoints on ROS web services, but for that we’ll first need to buy and download (verifying existing retail files won’t work) a Steam/EGS copy of the game, which’ll take a while.
